With Plexiglass and Piles of Hot Dogs, a Fourth of July Tradition Lives On
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/04/nyregion/hot-dog-contest.html

The traditional hot dog eating contest. No crowds, and with the plexiglass vaguely reminiscent of The $64,000 Question. Safe from coronavirus. Not so sure about sodium and nitrites.

  • I'd like to feed all the fireworks to the noise-terrorists who bought them and inflicted them upon the rest of us here, on 4th July. Some of them can only be compared to ARTILLERY rounds. Be assured: childish assholes who like to make noise just for the sake of making noise are alive and well. And inflicting themselves upon the rest of us at will. It's not just a pity that such is the case. It's a travesty. Some people never grow up, never develop any sense of consideration for others. Making those stupid fireworks illegal should not even be an issue, anymore. This country--- on this 4th of July--- is in the shitter. We have grown too tolerant of uncivilized bullshit. And all ya have to do here to buy them LEGALLY is to purchase a permit. (Bushwah!)
  • I live in Central Florida and fireworks are legal on 3 days-July 4, December 31 and January 1. Given Florida's recent political history, if Agent Orange is reelected, fireworks will be legal on November 4, 2020 as well!
  • No thanks. We are stay indoor while COVID cases are rising.
