Trump, in Video From White House, Delivers a 46-Minute Diatribe on the ‘Rigged’ Election

https://nytimes.com/2020/12/02/us/politics/trump-election-video.html
President Trump on Wednesday released a 46-minute videotaped speech that denounced a “rigged” election and was filled with lies the day after his own attorney general joined election officials across the country in attesting to his defeat.

Mr. Trump recorded what he said “may be the most important speech I’ve ever made” in the Diplomatic Room of the White House and delivered it behind a lectern bearing the presidential seal. He then posted a two-minute version on Twitter, with a link to the full version on his Facebook page.

The president once again refused to concede defeat in his bid for re-election almost a month after Election Day, repeating a long list of false assertions about voter fraud and accusing Democrats of a conspiracy to steal the presidency.

Twitter quickly labeled the post “disputed.” Facebook added a note that President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr., who received almost 81 million votes and 306 electoral votes, is the projected winner of the election.

The video, which a White House official said was recorded last week, was the in-person embodiment of Mr. Trump’s staccato tweets over the past three weeks: one falsehood after another about voting irregularities in swing states, attacks on state officials and signature verifications, and false accusations against Democrats.

The president’s rambling assertions in the video were drastically undercut on Tuesday, when Attorney General William P. Barr told The Associated Press that despite inquiries by the Justice Department and the F.B.I., “to date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”

The same day, a Republican election official in Georgia blamed him for inciting violence and a wave of death threats.

“Mr. President, you have not condemned these actions or this language,” said Gabriel Sterling, a voting systems manager in Georgia. “Stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence.”

At the end of the video, Mr. Trump improbably described himself as the defender of America’s election system, saying he had been told that the single most important accomplishment of his presidency would be protecting the integrity of the voting system.

    This is just surreal.
  • The man surely has a serious mental issue.
  • For all we know that his untreated syphilis is affecting his mental health just like Al Capone.

All so sad. When is enough enough? I'm hearing now of (and somewhat expecting) his coming issuance of something termed a "preemptive pardon" immunizing him, Rudy and family members from prosecution for any and all crimes any of them may have committed in the past or may commit in the future. Unfortunately for them it wouldn't apply in state courts. Still, the very notion smacks of monarchical privilege.
  • Howdy folks,

Hope this finds everyone safe and well.

It appears the Plan is to grab as much $ as possible, breaking any and all laws as needed, and for Donald to give blanket pardons on Jan 20.

    and so it goes,

peace and wear the damn mask,

Problem here - That would suggest that Mitch McConnell and 90% of the republican leadership also suffer from syphilis. They are complicit in this attempt to steal our democracy away by their deafening silence. A shame. History will not be kind.

All the money in the world will not give them eternal life nor erase the stain from their memory.

Maybe granting preemptive pardons is good news. Maybe he's running out of imagined current indignities to whine about and is inventing future unknown indignities to whine about. He cannot help himself. He needs lovers and haters so the indignities wrought by the haters upon his poor but wonderful self will make the lovers … well, love him with the fervor of loving Jesus and make them send a tithe every week for his fending off the haters efforts. And, sorry @hank. This is the Jesus, eternal life story, complete with the pursuit of all the money in the world and fighting devils for all that give.
  • His election defense fund managed to get $200M form his followers. A good portion of it go to pay for all the baseless lawsuits and the rest for his pending 2024 campaign. What a way to fleece your followers.

Also many of them will likely not take the COVID vaccines and suffer the consequences even if they survive.
