A former Marine: The contradictions of war can make you feel insane

This commentary by a former Marine has absolutely nothing to do with financial matters. However, it is an excellent and thoughtful appraisal of the many personal facets involved in war. A very suitable read for Veteran's Day.

"Former Marine and intelligence officer Elliot Ackerman served five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and won the Silver Star Medal for leading a platoon in the Battle of Fallujah in Iraq. For him, Veterans Day is a time for reconnection. "

I happened to listen to the hour long interview (NPR?) yesterday while on a 5-hour drive home from the airport in drenching rain. Not a topic I’d normally be interested in. However, the interview was exceedingly well done. Probably a good lesson in self-assessment / inner reflection for all of us - regardless of our interests.
