Yu Zhang (formerly Matthews Asia) joins Allianz GI
I thought perhaps he was going out to setup his own company. But I guess not. Another big loss of PM talent from Matthews Asia, this might be the biggest profile departure yet.
I am not sure that it was a big loss as far as dividend MAPIX is concerned. As its lead manager, he was responsible for its recent shift from dividend to growth. Now that he is gone, the team there may go back to the original dividend focus. After all, there are already growthy MATFX (ETF cousin MINV), MPACX.
