Question re Schwab transaction charges

There have been some comments in recent posts regarding obtaining account waivers for various Schwab transactions. If anyone has any info on obtaining waivers on fund purchases I'd much appreciate hearing about that.
Thanks- OJ

  • From a previous post:
As to how to get fee waivers at Schwab, other posters have provided information. In that same thread:

I got the fee waived when I told my rep that I wanted to move VTMFX over from Vanguard but would not because of the fee. He waived it
You may want to contact @sma3 for additional information. I am a Fidelity client and i get NO waiver on TF funds.

When I transferred an account to Schwab last year they offered me fee waivers for Fidelity and Vanguard funds.
I didn't even ask for this—I guess Schwab was eager to accumulate additional AUM from one of their rivals.
I asked Schwab to waive transaction fees for Dodge & Cox and T. Rowe Price funds but my request was denied.
  • Thanks to all- I'm gonna give Schwab a try tomorrow, and I'll let you know.
  • Change of (whatever is left of) my mind-

After considering Junkster's comments in the Low Risk Bond OEFs for Maturing CDs thread I decided not to look at those particular bond funds (which have transaction fees at Schwab) at this time. So, thanks again to all- I appreciate your responses.

  • @Old_Joe Are you looking at emerging market equity? I own or as some would say hold a position in Artisan funds, be it rather small. Now I'm wondering if I want to add another rung to the ladder?
    Have a good day, Derf
  • When I transferred additional funds to Schwab last year, I asked my Financial Consultant about asset transfer promotions and TF waivers. (I had previously asked a rep in my local office about TF waivers but had been quickly shot down.) She connected me with a Trading Consultant in their Trading Solutions department.

The Trading Consultant matched an ongoing promotion at another broker and waived TFs for all accounts for Dodge & Cox, Fidelity, and Vanguard funds. The only exception was my Solo 401(k) account to which an ongoing TF waiver cannot be applied. However, I’ve been able ask for and get TFs waived a couple of times as a courtesy on an ad hoc basis.
