Many Hospitals Charge Double or Even Triple What Medicare Would Pay

Not to steal @davidrmoran's thunder on the plight of the farmer but this NY Times article on healthcare costs also seems worthy of a bit of your attention this morning. As one who has always paid out of pocket for care that the VA couldn't or wouldn't provide I have always been flummoxed by how much cash I had to hand over for treatment versus those who handed over a policy number certain to generate mounds of paperwork in addition to the cost of care. What a system!

2-3 X the cost

not new news. heard on large group/hospitals in Texas charge 50-70 dollars for two pills of generic tylenol while stay -as in patient [cvs 3 bucks for about 50 pills]

Prob is medicaid and Obama care pays so little not any groups nor physician especially specialists refuse to take these payments and turn them away

Think many folks do go overseas or Mexico Canada for outpocket cost cosmetic surgeries where pay is 25%of us

Rich folks/gov personals in high positions get richer and poor folks simply can't afford current health care costs

So.... Is anyone besides myself ready yet for a UNIFORM universal healthcare system in the USA? I'm glad for Medicare, coming up in July for me. But we should not have to turn 65 years old to get good coverage at a REASONABLE cost. ... Cover EVERYONE! Pay for it from payroll tax. Remember when the Roberts Court approved the constitutionality of Obamacare, 5-4? Roberts did his own legal gyrations, approving Obamacare on the basis of the government's TAXING authority. No need to tie yourself up in knots, JEEZ. And who are the ones making it impossible to happen? The Repugnant Party. Plus many Demublicans who are already owned by Big Pharma and the giant medical companies.

Example; $103 for cpap mask through local med supplier who won't take Medicare for full payment. One can go online & buy the same mask for $35 !!!
Okay I'll see how this works out when I send in billing to Medicare for two masks I recently purchased. To be fair the supplier would do the paper for medicare & insurance if one had a policy.
    Good health to all, Derf
