"Last night a new club opened in the wealthy Georgetown neighborhood in Washington, D.C. It’s called 'Executive Branch,' and it’s an invitation-only club backed by Donald Trump Jr. and megadonor Omeed Malik. Dasha Burns of Politico reported that it costs more than half a million dollars to join. The exclusive club is designed to allow top business executives to talk privately with Trump advisors and cabinet members. Burns reports that the club already has a waiting list."
"When then-candidate Donald Trump celebrated the administration of President William McKinley, it was always clear he saw it as the triumphant marriage of the very rich to the U.S. government. It was the era of so-called robber barons, industrialists and financiers who flooded political campaigns with money to convince voters that those trying to rein them in were socialists or anarchists, then called upon the politicians they put into power to pass laws that benefited their businesses." https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/april-27-2025
I think it's fair to say presidential corruption is at unprecedented levels.
• Trump Organization's cryptocurrency empire
• Qatar's "gift" of $400 million luxury jet to replace Air Force One
• Trump Organization planning to build luxury golf resort in Qatar
• Trump Organization already building 80-story tower in Dubai
• Membership at The Executive Branch ($500K) to gain private access to Trump administration officials
"Foreign governments will always seek to try to influence the United States and our public officials. And if foreign governments can do business deals with the United States, public officials, private business deals, they could easily corrupt our government. And that is the danger we face today, as much as we faced it at the time of the founding of this country."
"....the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations opened a preliminary inquiry into the $TRUMP cryptocurrency, World Liberty Financial Inc. (WLFI), and other associated business ventures following reporting that Trump-connected cryptocurrency firms may be enabling the violation of government ethics requirements, facilitating financial transactions with foreign nationals under federal prosecution, taking investments from foreign governments, and potentially violating federal laws.
Next week, Trump plans to host dinner with the 220 people who purchased the most $TRUMP meme coins, which pumped the value of $TRUMP to the financial benefit of the President. In April, a shipping company with operations in Mexico announced that it would spend $20 million on Trump meme coins with the explicitly stated intent of influencing tariff policy."
Until recently, it seems many in Congress have been silent regarding Trump's crypto corruption. I'm glad that Sen. Blumenthal is raising awareness of this important issue.
