The dictator is now advising restaurants

He is now telling Cracker Barrel what to do and they followed his sage advice. If he can’t end wars or whip inflation now he can still jawbone restaurants.

President of the USA. Publicly opining about company logos. Jayzuz pus spooge.... Yet, it is very telling. It's still all about the benjamins for him. Marketing. Presentation. Appearances. Forget solid content, integrity or the rule of Law or anything else. It's just not on his radar screen. What's the difference between government and business? He just doesn't care. Nor does he know the answer.
  • He's essentially a senile old man who wants the country and world to do his bidding and create the 'country' of his nostalgic memory of what things 'should' be. By contrast, in 2016 he was just the embarassing drunken uncle at the family dinner.
  • Spot-on.
  • @Crash. @rforno. The problem is that he has VIRTUALLY UNLIMITED POWER and he and the country are swirling around the drain faster every day. It’s a race to the bottom and it can’t end well.
  • @larryB correct. The silent--- literally--- Repugnant majority on The Hill have taken the role of spectators. They are complicit in the collusion to remake this country from within, via an internal coup d'etat.

@Crash. Correct. And the-coup d’etat is a fait acompli. So now what? Certainly the assumptions we base investment decisions upon are no longer relevant. The United States we knew and irritated us no longer exists. Ya don’t miss your water till your well runs dry. Note: not written by the Byrds. Google it.

Seems to me the dollar will continue to fall in value. The US is not the safe haven it once was. WE are now among the banana republics ruled by a criminal, fascist, vapid thug, along with his tong. American exceptionalism of the sort the MAGA crowd projects was always myopic and included a level of cultural erasure for those not among the WASP majority.

Will the mid-terms even happen with any sort of legitimacy? That remains to be seen. Even if there is an anti-Orange wave, the crazy gerrymandering might still be a fact of life. ...This is what happens when those who see their "Party" losing and shrinking decide they can no longer afford to play the game in good faith, according to the rules. The Repugnants long ago have started that ball rolling, going back to at least the days when Gigrich The Newt was House Speaker.

All of this impacts our investing climate and decisions, certainly. In my back pocket, I still hold an "ace in the hole." I could (with wifey) literally do a "Rosie O'Donnell" and move to Ireland. I'd much prefer the weather here in Polynesia, though. I am watching events unfold, intently, over the course of the next year or so.

Three co-equal branches of government cannot operate as such, as long as two of them are in collusion together to undermine the third. When the participants (elected so-called "leaders") stand silent and watch it all unravel, it is heartbreaking, but also threatening. There are still much more free countries in the world. I hope what we had here in the U.S. can be salvaged and reinvigorated.

(Oh, ya. It's a song about Alice, remember:) investing? I am refraining from any major decisions for the time being. But let's not allow inertia to stop us from making necessary changes with our money if/when that moment comes.

    "Banana Republics." Jimmy Buffett.

  • Feels like we should be able to dump Orange off at the old folks home and hope the Secret Service can't locate him.

Orange would just think he's still at Mar a Lago.
  • Apparently, some people call him "the President of Europe...", or so DJT tells us.

Yes, indeed, this is the United States of America.
  • this is worse

"George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday morning.

That's what Biden and Garland should've done between 2020-2024 against Donnie and the J6'ers and MAGA ringleaders. But noooooo, they were trapped in amber, looking for a return to an age of Washington politics that no longer exists.

Yes, indeed, this is the United States of America.

"Some people" = the voices in Donnie's head.

Don't forget, any tall tale he spins where people are saying "Sir...." and/or are "begging" with "tears in their eyes" is not to be believed.

(And a reminder, despite all this --- Donald JOHN Trump appears repeatedly in the Epstein files.)
  • What violent protests do I not know about???? Anyone watch right wing news? What is he talking about?

Shares of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store rose more than 8% on Wednesday after the restaurant said it would discard its new logo amid widespread backlash.
The switch occurred just hours after President Donald Trump weighed in on the rebranding.
Cracker Barrel shares are close to restoring their original losses from when the new logo was first announced last week.

"Social media users were quick to blast the new logo, calling it “generic,” “soulless” and “bland.” Conservatives in particular accused the restaurant chain of going “woke,” by doing away with the classic American branding.

A YouGov poll of 1,000 adults over the weekend found that 65% of Americans were aware of the new logo and 76% preferred the old one.

The company addressed the backlash in a statement Monday, saying it has “shown us that we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”
Looks good to me. The clients didn't like the new logo. The stock price went down. The old logo stayed; the price went up. Trump just said the obvious.
As usual, I already got 727 similar notes:Trump is a dictator, and it's the end of democracy.

  • So which publicly traded company will the govt take an equity stake in next?
  • Will McDonald's put Grandma Moses in their Golden Arches?

He gets that info from that 'fake news channel' whose content is created, produced, and broadcasted exclusively between his orang ears and which shapes his perception of the world.

Glad to see that trump has the time for this important stuff.

I don't agree with firebrand Alex Jones, and think he's a nutjobwhackadoodle, but he's right when he recently said Donnie may well have a catastrophic health incident because he 'works too hard' and doesn't sleep well or take care of himself. On that, I'd say he's right, though so far it seems he's only working to cause chaos, fuel his ego, play golf, grift his flock, and otherwise keep himself out of prison.
  • Is he dead yet? That's what I want to know.
