now i dont expect much quality from the youngster pop pantheon, but its sad to see someone with taylor swift's influence not do much more. (although $ via control has always been her north star)

    We also lack a symbol of resistance to the regime. Back in the sixties the peace sign was a universal sign you were against the war. The resistance today is lacking a sound track, leaders and symbols.

    Kids feel more despair now than we did then, also comparative indifference with no draft. My take. It's (generally) kids' parents and grandparents who gather and march, and we know that music today and the kids' concerns are no longer the point. Hard to think what the Airplane would be doing in this stupidly horrid era, or even Nirvana and Rage. Baez and Slick (and Dylan, yawn) do live on, but today's enormities are rather harder to bring into clear focus and encapsulate in art than the personally threatening Vietnam war and the firehosing/beating of PoC and their allies of 60y ago.

    Something might yet develop. Not Masters of War, but something. And know that the day what's-his-name dies there will actual dancing in the street. As his tombstone mockup says, Please wash hands after urinating.
