is there any value re: never-ending debate of gop\trump voters being stupid or identity-wrapped? more than enough of both types?
the outcome is the same without further breaks in logic...e.g., midterm voters somehow conclude they must punish their gop reps for their own unconditional support for trump.

"...And worse than all of this, of course, is the possibility that the people who voted for him [trump] are neither ignorant, uninformed, or misled, but fully cognizant of the implications of their partnership.
It’s time we stopped giving adult human beings the benefit of the doubt, simply because we think they’re not smart enough not to be fooled by religious shysters, fake news peddlers, and political snake oil salesmen. If that is true, then they’re also not smart or mentally stable enough to be presented with objective data or compelling arguments and to filter them responsibly. They are, practically speaking, unreachable with rational measures..."

  • I see your point!
My MAGA friend is still a friend, despite his Repugnant Party-ness. Call it loyalty: he saved my ass, years ago--- twice. I try to steer away from politics on the phone with him because the Orange Abomination and his regime just make things worse and worse with each passing day.

Mind you, this guy holds a legitimate Master's degree. He ain't stoopid. He volunteered to tell me that he stays away from the news these days, just taking in the headlines, at most. I suppose if I were MAGA but still claimed to own a conscience, I'd be doing the same. But then there's THIS: if you're too ashamed to watch or read about what your Orange Sac is doing to the country, why stay? Why not disenthrall yourself?

I don't ever expect him to become a Dem. I'm no Dem, either. But the other major "Party," the Repugnant one, is systematically destroying the country; its institutions, outreach, leadership, policies. And the Orange One sits in Cabinet meetings, demanding that his appointees PRAISE him to his face?

That's too deep a hole of need to EVER get filled-in.
I think your original posting (above) might fruitfully lead us into a consideration of what's called Emotional Intelligence, or in Myers-Briggs terms, Intuition. Some folks hear lies from a charlatan and actually believe them and take them at face value. Others? Well, they're just not fooled.

I remember an acquaintance from years ago who thought the 14-point Plan for the country which Orange Donny claimed to stand for were all good ideas. (Pre-2016 election.) I wanted to say, but didn't: "are you on drugs? Why are we even watching this guy on tv? He's a bankrupt, lying, criminal doink." ...And since then, he's been convicted in court HOW MANY TIMES?????

  • the repugnants/maggots are the problem,,,,,,, if one doesn’t align themself with the alternative to the problem what does that make you? Either you are part of the problem or part of the solution.
  • In 2026 if you are not a “Dem” YOU ARE ONE OF THEM! It’s an all hands on deck moment in our nations history. The. Choice is a flawed party vs an evil and destructive party. That’s the choice.
