Government Trust Close To Generational Bottom?

edited February 16 in Off-Topic
Interesting view from Morgan Housel.

"This is more hope than prediction, but I wouldn’t be surprised if in 20 years we look back
at this era of political nastiness as a generational bottom we grew out of."

"When times are good, people get complacent and stop caring about good governance.
When times are bad they get fed up and say, 'Enough of this.'
And I think we’re not far from that today."

As to the title, It is with me.
  • There is nothing from the current regime, nor the Repugnant Party that can be trusted. Dems? Better, but not by much. Between them, we're screwed.
  • @Crash, that's why the operative phrase is to elect "more and BETTER democrats." (Emphasis added.)

I have been posting something akin to this for a while. Sometimes people say that I am being naive. Could be. Or prescient.

It is why I think that them taking charge of "the rope" and continually doling more out, is going to backfire. I could see a situation where Republicans are shunned for leadership positions, in all but the reddest of places. Running roughshod on everyone has consequences, people see you for what you are, eventually. And few appreciate bullies.

There are still some who haven't caught on that these mofos, are doing the opposite of what they voted for. That most of what is happening is harmful to them, their children, their parents, their friends. By mid-terms a lot of the implications will be quite evident. By 2028, there will be no escaping the reality. It takes time.

I don't think it will take 20 years.

  • ...OK. Unless I can find a Dem. Soc. on my ballot.
