Thank you sma3! We are spending this summer in northwest again. I have no quiet place I can be before noon eastern (9 am here). Library opens at 9am! I've set up a session for Friday, 2 pm eastern ... posted on board. But, if that does not work, just call me at 805 468 9599 ... if I can pick up I will. Hopefully, can pick a day where you can attended from noon on. Very happy to do! c
Was able to get back into HCP at under $37 yesterday. Since last attempt was at just under $42, before exiting at $40.70, hoping for more luck this time around.
Yep, pretty painful right now. Our town here in Central Coast imposed the following:
Declaration to reduce water usage by 20%.
Outdoor watering banned: 10 am - 5 pm
No watering on Mondays. Even/odd numbered addresses can water every other day.

@jlev. Good new, if true. After you do the research, perhaps you should ask to have a discussion with the CFA. Make sure about the loads. Make sure about lack of churn. Then ask, why so many funds? Is the CFA being mandated by his firm to buy many f…
@cman:
She should reply to the financial planner/advisor: "Your clients would have been better off if you got them out of the market in October 2007 and kept them out until March 9, 2009."
Love it.
I fear Alex is right, especially if your father is paying the front-loads on these funds. Is he? Imperative you find out. The situation is my penultimate fear...very glad you are helping protect him.
Is the CFA charging an addition fee, beyond the …
Added back a bit to JBSS this week. Could still not get into HPC. Maybe next week.
Was hammered with FAAFX. That will teach me not to call attention to a break-out again on anything I hold =).
@STB65. The "nice" is driven by objective to minimize MAXDD. I think that knowing your drawdown limit is best way to knowing the kind of investor you are, no? It's easy when the market is going up, but when it heads south, not so much...
Losing 25% of principle in one year is not acceptable to me at this point.
I like that you are making downside risk a priority.
So, Priorty 1: Modest MaxDD.
Priority 2: Some dividend.
Priority 3. Liquidity. You don't state it, but it's implied wi…
@DAK.
Hey, a couple other options, if you are interested...
MFO Three Alarm search tool lists out the worst absolute returning funds (ie., bottom quintile) during the past 1, 3, and 5 year periods for each category, like those here:

Note that if you have specific symbols (tickers), use the Risk Profile tool.
Use Miraculous Multi Search when you have partial names, like "Fair", or by criteria, like category, risk, age. It's a more general, exploratory search tool.

Gives quintile rank, here again for VWENX:
For past 1, 3, 5, 10, and 20 year periods, as applicable. Based on its risk return measure (Martin Ratio).
Ha! Got you Linkster. Bee started this thread yesterday:

Ha! Love you guys. May be you are right. Perhaps we generate no less entropy after retirement...then when we were full-fledged producing members of society.
