  • Well, given the loud bipartisan scorn for his Helsinki fiasco, tomorrow's executive time rage-tweets likely will be both epic and pathetic. WH staff might want to make a Costco run for diapers tonight before he gets home, just to be prepared.

  • @rforno.you might remember that the Watergate investigation was not going anywhere until such time as Nixon's own party suddenly said something like enough is enough. And then he resigned. One can hope anyway. I would like to send copies of Profiles in Courage to those complicit in treason in Congress. But to those guys it's party before country.

But Putin sounded very Trump-y when he said he said he actually had some doubts about the appointment of Mueller in the first place. “I think that American court now believes that it was done with the infringement of the American legislation, but that’s none of my business.”

He’s right about one thing there.:)
  • who's your vladdy?
  • who's your vladdy?

Oh I *so* have to use that in a talk here in DC sometime...
  • He is still President. He will be re-elected. I still haven't seen a credible dem alternative who can win.

Vintage freak... Sir we have so many prospects
double whammy stormy & her laywer
    Sanders
    Clinton
    Mueller
    Poloski
    Warner
    Everyone's favorite uncle Joe b
The new pretty Democrat socialist from ny (she is like the new Obama when first stared)

  • If the Dems run Clinton again (which I hear is something they're quietly pondering) they deserve to lose. She is beyond toxic at this point, and the GOP would have a field day relitigating her career during the campaign. (Speaking of which, aren't we overdue for another lame-brain GOP Benghaaaazi hearing?)

  • @rforno Like I said...no prospects for dems.

What has Trump not done yet he needs to do before pubes sour on their party? Even Pence wins best case for them.

.....ORK? My neighbor's irritating THREE blasted schnauzers would at least do less harm.
  • Ronald Reagan would roll over in his grave to have how the GOP reacts (or the lack of) to the meeting.
  • "I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue."

We've had a little of this before, though there's a clear distinction between foolish and intentional, between naive and destructive. Not to mention two more decades of experience.

  • I truely believe ALL presidents do these kind of deals behind closed doors w/ Iran/Russia/China/North Koreans or US enemies. I Remember Obama gave lots of $$ to Irans and also talked w/ previous USSR president about giving him more freedom until after the 2012 election; the R wing was extremely upset after that.

Trumptard is "...." to do it publicly. Either that or he is getting tired of of harrassments from FBI/investigations and wanted to end. I cant blame him but to do it publicly is very lame/retarded. Its his personality that he cannot stand if someone keep harrassing him and his family. I wish he could be like 42nd Bush very reserved/not involved w/ media keep doing your job and keep taking jabs and still get re-elected
  • ""Like so many of the worst features of this presidency, what happened in Helsinki has at its root the president’s deep character flaws – flaws that on this occasion have made him incapable of defending either the country’s interests or its honor." https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-07-16/trump-sides-with-putin-a-shocking-display-in-helsinki
  • This is only the most recent, extreme and shocking illustration of the decline of the USA. Uneducated, gullible people elect a Buffoon In Chief. The fact that he got in without a majority of the popular vote speaks to the antiquated, absurd election system in the USA. And should we STILL be surprised that the Buffoon behaves like an unprincipled buffoon??? ALL HE KNOWS is... MONEY. No conscience. No ethics. No memory. No intellectual curiosity. He possesses no attributes that might help him to be a President.
  • @JohnN. Are you really wishing for him to "get re-elected?" REALLY?

First, the current scandal isn't about a backdoor deal. It's about the president siding publicly with a totalitarian foreign dictator against every U.S. intelligence agency over whether the Russians hacked the 2016 election. Second, the supposed backdoor deal Obama had with Iran wasn't one: https://vox.com/2016/9/7/12830688/us-iran-cash-payment-ransom

  • As David Frum said this morning, "At this point, disclosure of Trump's tax returns has become a crucial national security/counter-intelligence concern." I agree completely - moreover at this point, they're not something "only a few people" [1]would be interested in, as he is prone to reply when asked about them.

[1] Mueller's team is a 'few people', admittedly. I'm sure they have them already and are very interested in them.

Hi sir Larry - don't know if he gets re-elected or not but polls numbner similiar to Obama past 7-8 months after the 'honey-moon' period. I remember Obama was also very divided according to the R.side views when he is in office. Trump is the same ways now

I hope the other side DNC has better candidates than the ones that are mentioned right now. Sounds like Sanders would be their best choice but he is an I and DNC does not like that at all; most Americans do not favor socialist views also imho. Uncle Joe American probably may not like because of the History. WE may have Biden/Warren at the Summer 2020 for election year

The CEO of Facebook and Ms Waters were also mentioned as runners up to DNC but these are far fetches choices

Can you tell which one is playing the “straight guy? Reminiscent of some of the old Jon Stewart comedy skits. (Wish it were comedy) I do suppose this will put an end to all the excessive horn-blowing, drum-beating, chest-thumping & tin-soldier salutes around here every 4th of July, D-Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Thanksgiving Day, etc.
