edited November 2022 in Off-Topic
News like this is unsettling. Hope this is just a serious posture to Putin and Belarus.

  • no doubt, a show of readiness.
  • An American air base is located at the Romanian city referenced in the article. The base is also less than 300 miles from Tiraspol-capital of Transnistria, a breakaway Moldovan region currently occupied by Russian troops.

The 101st unit is an elite Army unit with many engagement experience dated back to WWII. Hope this exercise is just another NATO exercise.
  • Howdy folks,

Hope this finds everyone healthy and wealthy.

The 101st was actually deployed to Eastern Europe July 7th.

To date, I have not seen any other deployments. What you want to watch is the 6th Fleet. They were reinforced early on with an addition four destroyer/missile frigates.

    and so it goes,

    peace,

  • Thanks for the tip, @rono.
  • With all respect to rono, I'm not sure how the navy would come into this since Turkey has blocked the Bosporus Strait to warships, preventing access to the Black Sea. Ukraine has no other maritime access.

? Maybe their capabilities can reach from beyond the Bosporus?
  • Possibly, but they would have to overfly Turkey, who wouldn't be very happy about that. But who knows?
  • Howdy folks,

Hi Dan, hope this finds you well. It's the cruise missiles that they have in the 6th Fleet. They have enormous strike capability. We're talking 100s.

    And so it goes,

    Peace

  • Thanks, Ron- appreciate the response.

    Stay healthy.
