This one carries less weight than the Comey indictment. In fact, it is laughable. If this is the best trump can do, it really illustrates his impotence.
"In an email sent to a mortgage broker, James wrote that the property "WILL NOT be my primary residence".
"James's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, stated that a power-of-attorney form had "mistakenly" listed the property as her primary residence, but that James had provided clear and accurate information otherwise, including in the email. All other documents in her loan file stated she would not reside at the home."
Probably should be under Investing ? I realize an indictment by a grand jury isn’t the same as a conviction. But still big. Sure to affect the markets.
OK - Of course there’s politics involved. Party in power picks the targets to go after. More and more flagrant. Sad state of affairs. But it’s still an investment related event.
Does anyone know if the t-organization ever paid any of the $500 million penalty imposed on him and his company in the business fraud case or is it still in wishy-washy limbo land?
I don't understand people's confidence about the outcome of flimsy to non-valid charges nowadays. If the government can shop around for a prosecutor to bring the charges, I see no reason to assume the courts cannot be likewise manipulated. (I have no confidence that I, or anyone else, can predict the out come of SCOTUS cases. If I were to try to predict, I would go with - the outcome will be what Trump wants no matter what anyone thinks is actually the law.)
Scary, @Anna, but I've been holding such thoughts in the back of my mind. I came across this half-hour video at Al Jazeera. "Syrian Justice Minister on rebuilding the Rule of Law after al-Assad."
Oops, Syrian election was already held, Oct. 5, '25. The nuts and bolts framework this time is provisional and deliberately temporary. But it worked. Our own Articles of Confederation quickly were shown to be inadequate, back then. So we came up with a Constitution. Which Orange Fuhrer likes to ignore. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Syrian_parliamentary_election
@Crash We don't seem to have a Allah Mighty that cares about justice. Our Mighties seem to be defocused else and every-where. I am more confident about predicting the plans for the mid-terms. I am confident that, even if the House changes hands, the SCOTUS will quickly flip the closest state results to realign it back. (I don't think the landslide that is needed to bring balance is possible, do you?)

No, no landslide. I have come to agree with uncle Winston: "The best argument against democracy is a 5-minute conversation with the average voter."
There will be some flips toward the Blue. Yes. But you're right: SCOTUS is pre-packed toward the Right, and will find excuses to assist the Repugnants. You can bet there will be lengthy legal appeals from the Right. Hopefully enough voters show up to take back the Majority on The Hill. In some places, like where I live, my US Rep calls himself a Dem, but he might as well be in Mike Johnson's pocket. (HI-1, Honolulu and suburbs. Ed Case.)

Of course, we shall see. But, first the charges have to pass muster or it will result in dismissal. Then, if a jury trial is requested, it must be provided. Then, all twelve jurors need to be in the bag.
I am predicting that neither Comey or James makes it to trial. If either does, the jury will not be easily manipulated.
To many people, justice and their reputations still matter.
California's attempt to swing 5 districts to the D's and balance the Texas redistricting 5 to the R's is on the state ballot Nov. 4. If it fails, the House will stay R unless there's a blue wave nationally. https://calmatters.org/california-voter-guide-2025/
P.S. Just learned recently that the biggest cash contributor for passing independent panel redistricting in CA was a Republican. They may have had their eye on limiting the state's ability to respond to bullshit redistricting elsewhere for some time.

When the Orange criminal doink is gone, maybe the Syrian Minister may have something to teach the US. I've been watching the news from the Levant. Looks like planned-for elections may just come off rather smoothly. I fear for what kind of shenanigans might go on in our own midterms.
