Ultrarich Spending a Fortune to Live in Extreme Privacy

edited November 16 in Off-Topic
"The acquisitive power of the very rich is soaring. The net worth held by the top 0.1% of households
in the U.S. reached $23.3 trillion in the second quarter this year, from $10.7 trillion a decade earlier,
according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
The amount held by the bottom 50% increased to $4.2 trillion from $900 billion over that period."

"The ultrawealthy are wielding their growing fortunes to glide through a rarefied realm
unencumbered by the inconveniences of ordinary life.
They don’t wait in lines. They don’t jostle with airport crowds or idle unnecessarily in traffic."

"Instead, an ecosystem of exclusive restaurants, clubs, resorts and other service providers
delivers them customized and exquisite experiences as fast as possible.
The spaces they inhabit are often private, carefully curated and populated by like-minded
and similarly well-heeled peers."

  • Jeeze, who would have suspected anything like that?
  • "In the Bentley Residences condo tower under construction in Sunny Isles Beach, north of Miami, car elevators will deliver residents straight up to their homes and deposit vehicles in adjoining “sky garages,” avoiding the need to deal with parking valets and reception areas."
Don't the masters of finance here at MFO all live like this?

Not at the moment but this is something that I aspire to.
I am so tired of dealing with the hoi polloi!
I expect my wealth to increase significantly in the coming months due to deft trading of zero-day options.
My net worth should be in the top 1% bracket which will allow me to live the lifestyle that I truly deserve! /sarc
  • Hey!!!
Speaking as one of those polloi types I hereby make a motion to eject your pompous ass from our beloved brotherhood.

I may possibly reconsider if you make it into the top 1% bracket and (quietly) send me a suitable substantial gratuity.

...Or else I'll paint myself Orange and hobble you with bullshit lawsuits and threaten to withhold what is yours unless you PAY ME. See how nice I can be, if you just give me tons of money? (LOL.)
  • POTUS seems to get away with skirting the "conflict of interest" investment rules. And that includes his family. Its good to be the king.

@Observant1, had no idea we shared this great dislike of the polloi types. Can I join the 1% club too? / sarc
  • OK @JD_co, that's it for you too. You just made the list also...

    He's got 'em on the list — he's got 'em on the list;
And they'll none of 'em be missed — they'll none of 'em be missed

You can join our exclusive club.
All members assume a solemn responsibility to keep the "unwashed hordes" at bay!
  • I just got out of the shower. You two are in real trouble.
  • Sniff sniff....still smells like commoners, OJ :)

If somebody could please text me the weekly bridge schedule. I heard Warren is dropping out, though Bill still plays. (Too bad I've never played, though).

All this exclusivity sounds enticing. As long as I don't have to kiss the rings of the Orange one - that's not a club I would ever want to join. Not for all the $$$.

A number of club members have debased themselves with their servile behavior towards Trump.
But don't worry — this is definitely not a membership requirement.
As a matter of fact, a select group within the club is working diligently to permanently remove
King Trump from office by any means necessary.
    I've said too much already...
  • Careful, you might end up on the run like Robert Redford in "Three Days of the Condor"!

If only your plan would succeed.

    If only.
