Former Trump lawyer: ‘The Constitution is not adequate to deal with a president as evil as Trump’

Comments

  • Yes- he knows Trump well and is exactly right on.
  • Nice to hear the truth, unlike every syllable coming out of what's left of the WH. But it disturbs me that he thinks there just plain won't ever be any accountability. "We need to mobilize the resistance to simply get this over with." My hair is on fire, now. Can you smell it over there?

The Constitution alone is not adequate to deal with a president as evil as Trump’

I’d insert “alone” in Cobb’s statement and believe that is what he meant. The Constitution is a piece of paper outlining future conduct. In that respect it may be seen as akin to writing down a household budget, a weight loss plan or the rules of conduct at MFO. It is only as good as those who interpret it and act accordingly. My weight loss plan, carefully crafted and written down, won’t make me thinner if I’ve binging on beer and pizza all day.

I don’t know who coined the term “gutless wonders”, but it never more aptly applied to our elected representatives in Congress as it does today. As far as the Constitution goes, I’d urge everyone to reread or look for summaries of Goulding’s Lord of the Flies. To the stranded boys the conch shell represented a constitution of sorts. Deemed sacred, only the individual holding it would have the right to speak at meetings which would maintain order and allow all an equal voice in self-governance. How well did that work?
