Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
"State and local officials in Minneapolis are outraged after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fatally shot a woman there. Federal officials accused that woman of trying to run over officers with a vehicle, claiming the shooting was in self-defense. The city’s mayor says the video tells a different story. A warning, the video in this story is disturbing."
"To the MAGA accounts coming to our page (we will block you). But here is the truth. Claims that this was self-defense do not hold up. Watch the video closely. The ICE agent is no longer in front of the vehicle when he fires. He shoots through the driver-side window, which means his body is no longer in the vehicle’s path and he is not in immediate danger. You can clearly see this by the positioning of his feet. Under real law-enforcement standards, deadly force is only justified when there is an imminent, ongoing threat. Once an officer removes themselves from harm’s way, that justification ends. You cannot step out of danger and then continue firing and still claim self-defense. Firing point-blank from the side of the vehicle, including three shots to the head, is not threat-stopping it demonstrates lethal intent after the threat had passed. No properly trained law enforcement officer or member of the military is taught to do this. Officers are trained to move away, create distance, seek cover, and de-escalate not surround a vehicle, provoke a situation, and then claim fear. You can watch the videos for yourself. Trump’s response (don’t trust your own eyes) echoes George Orwell’s 1984: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” Shooting through the driver-side window when you are no longer in front of the car is not self-defense. That is murder."
A top state law enforcement official said Thursday that federal agencies were denying Minnesota investigators access to evidence from a fatal shooting by an immigration enforcement officer the day before, preventing them from participating in the inquiry into an incident that officials have described in starkly different terms.
Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said on Thursday that his agency had withdrawn from the investigation of the death of Renee Nicole Good, 37, as a result: “Without complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public demands,” Mr. Evans said in a statement.
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, said it was a matter of jurisdiction.
“They have not been cut out,” Ms. Noem said at a news conference Thursday, in response to a reporter who asked about state investigators. “They don’t have any jurisdiction in this investigation.”
Tim Walz, the governor, said at a news conference that “Minnesota must be part of this investigation.”
“I say that only because people in positions of power have already passed judgment,” Mr. Walz added. He said that some of the federal government’s statements regarding the circumstances of the shooting had been “verifiably false.”
Comment: Ms. Noem said “They don’t have any jurisdiction in this investigation.” Ms. Noem "says" and that's that. Might as well be in China or Russia with this Federal crew running things.
Vice-president Vance said that local state authorities had no jurisdiction over the ongoing investigation into Wednesday’s deadly shooting in Minneapolis. This comes as the Minneosta Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said the case would “solely led by the FBI” after BCA’s access to evidence was revoked.
Vance said the investigation is a “federal issue”, and the ICE agent who killed Renee Good “is protected by absolute immunity”.
“He was doing his job,” the vice-president added. “The idea that Tim Walz and a bunch of radicals in Minneapolis are going to go after and make this guy’s life miserable because he was doing the job that he was asked to do is preposterous.”
Comment: The government killer squads now have "absolute immunity". My, that didn't take long. Now the government simply makes up shit as needed at the moment. I wonder if "president" trump had any influence on that?
I fear what the next election looks like if non-white and non-christian and non-heteros show up at some polling stations. Gives one a different perspective on the anti-mail-in-ballot, doesn't it. They want to see you and make you speak so they need you to be ready to be screened or too intimidated to show.
DHS secretary’s claims have been widely disputed with video of shooting showing vehicle turning away from agent
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, has doubled down on her claim that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis was acting in self-defense and responding to an “act of domestic terrorism”.
Noem also said that she was “not opposed” to sending additional federal agents to Minneapolis.
Speaking at a news conference in New York City on Thursday morning, Noem claimed that the victim, Renee Nicole Good, had been following and harassing the ICE agents as they conducted enforcement operations in the area. Noem reiterated the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) assertion that Good used her vehicle “as a weapon” and had tried to run over the officer.
Those claims have been widely disputed by both local and state leaders in Minnesota as well as by eyewitnesses. Video footage of the shooting also shows that Good’s vehicle appeared to be turning away from the officer as he opened fire.
Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis Democratic mayor, slammed the DHS’s account of the incident as a “garbage narrative” on Wednesday. “They’re already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense,” Frey said. “Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly: that is bullshit.”
New York City’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, described the shooting as “the latest horror in a year full of cruelty”: “As ICE attacks our neighbors across America, it is an attack on us all,” Mamdani said. “New York stands with immigrants today, and every day that follows.”
Throughout today’s White House briefing, vice-president Vance has repeatedly claimed, baselessly, that Renee Good was part of a “left wing network” of people who are trying to “incite violence against our law enforcement officers”. This is classic terrorism, and we cannot say that when the far-left fringe is inciting violence against our brave law enforcement officials, that we’re no longer going to enforce the law. That’s rewarding the very people who are engaged in this garbage.
He continued to disparage Good as he answered questions from reporters, characterizing her as “a victim of left wing ideology”.
“What young mother shows up and decides they’re going to throw their car in front of ICE officers who are enforcing legitimate law. You’ve got to be a little brainwashed to get to that point,” Vance said.
When you fear that responsible Law Enforcement will not confirm your hokey version of events, and are unwilling to hold your own accountable, you get to this point.
Fascism is no longer "on the rise", it is in full-fledged application. Welcome to Amerika.

You got that right. Let's say the seditious Repugnants get voted out in November; how much ya wanna bet they will find some pretext to challenge the result? And because (until Jan, '27) they control the levers of gummint, they can use procedural means to slow-walk the whole thing, just the way the prosecutions of the Orange Felon were slow-walked to the point where they could not proceed because Orange Filth was already the sitting President. They could effectively delay or attempt to deny Seats to their opposition when their terms were due to begin....
It just keeps getting worse, there is no bottom. Get accustomed to that shocked and indignant feeling you are experiencing--- until there is enough OFFICIAL opposition to this Criminal Insane Clown Show.
*Also: pay attention to the other junk that Orange Doink was doing on the day that Nicole Good was murdered: requesting refund of legal fees in Georgia. The case was dismissed, at long last, after Fani Willis and her lawyer-employee managed to screw up that whole picture by their own romantic involvement. But the dismissal was not a "not guilty" verdict! Orange P.O.S. was CLEARLY guilty.
The Trump crypto outfit is applying for a BANK license. Jayzuz. And the Orange fake President wants to expand the national debt even further, in the next fiscal year, by giving DoD an extra half-trillion dollars. He claims tariff collections can pay for it. Is he dead yet?
the media is missing that this inevitability is guaranteed for many more incidents, regardless of midterms. and hey MAGA, its not making me any richer.
consider : - ICE is trump's SS, and unlike public media, already committed funding cannot be rescinded until ~2027 at best. - oh yeah, ICE funding went up >>10X to $170b/4 years, larger than most nation's military. - in order to minimize fake numbers, trump has to capture non-criminal immigrants at max velocity. - there is minimal national outrage for those captured while awaiting\attending court hearings, or even the sporadic full citizen. - Noem has massively boosted salaries for gun-happy fascist candidates that could not even qualify for the Reno911 police academy - most of the pre-street training is gone, down to a few weeks. de-escalation seems eliminated entirely despite remaining in the manual for CYA purposes. - precedent is being set for all criminal investigations into ICE as 'internal' for national security, fill-in-excuse here.... - finally, my guess, is that MAGA is still entertained enough to approve.
We were already watching MSNOW when all of this started. And, except for observing what local/network channels are programming to the local populist; we continue to watch MSNOW. A quick check of FoxNews at the time, found that they already had 'their marching orders' of how to report the story.

Donald Trump stated in a recent interview that the only limit to his power as commander-in-chief is his own morality.
In a wide-ranging conversation with The New York Times, when asked if there were any limits on his global powers, Trump said: "Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It's the only thing that can stop me. I don't need international law. I'm not looking to hurt people".
During the interview, he reportedly dismissed international law as an external check on the use of U.S. military, economic, and political power. When pressed on whether his administration must abide by international law, he stated, "I do," but added, "It depends what your definition of international law is"
"In Minneapolis yesterday, an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. The shooting occurred on a residential street in south Minneapolis (less than a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020)."
"Trump claimed that Ms. Good 'violently, willfully, and viciously ran over' the ICE agent. Kristi Noem claimed that “our officers were out trying to get a car stuck out of the snow when they were surrounded and assaulted and blocked in by protesters.”
"Several videos taken from different angles (see, for example, here) and several analyses of the videos (see here) make it clear that Trump’s and Noem’s descriptions of what occurred are blatant lies."
"According to an eyewitness, ICE agents yelled contradictory instructions at Good — one telling her to leave and then, as she complied, another tried to open her door and told her to get out, while a third shot her in the face."
"As horrific as this murder is, Trump and his regime’s response has been almost as chilling. Trump accused Good of being a 'professional agitator' and blamed the tragedy on 'the Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate.' Noem accused Good of being engaged in 'an act of domestic terrorism.' JD Vance called her 'part of a broader left-wing network' and said the killing was 'a tragedy of her own making and a tragedy of the far left.'"
"Minnesota’s investigators have been told by the FBI that they will not be allowed to investigate; only the FBI will investigate. As Governor Tim Walz noted, it will be 'very difficult for Minnesotans to think in any way this is going to be fair when Kristi Noem is judge, jury, and basically executioner.'"

Morality and Trump in the same sentence? LOL. DYING laughing here, it is such a contradiction in terms, an oxymoron.
"If you look at any of these videos and see an officer defending himself instead of a man with a gun needlessly murdering a woman, you are delusional and need to reevaluate your ideas about excessive use of force and what it means to uphold the law. When someone runs up to a woman, grabs her door handle and says "get the fuck out of the car", and she attempts to flee, an officer's reaction SHOULD NOT BE TO EXECUTE HER WITH THREE SHOTS TO THE HEAD. There are a thousand preventative steps to be taken before it should ever come to that. There is absolutely no excuse for what he did. None.
What have we come to, what has happened to us that so many of us - including our disgusting fucking tumor of a president- are going out of our way to try and justify the crime this man committed? How have we so fundamentally lost the plot?
The tragedy to me is that this is just one example of so many. You only need to wait a day to be exposed to some fresh new first- world horror. It is a shameful thing to feel associated in any way with this government, with this country, with this way of thinking that is infecting and pervading our culture. The American dream we were sold as children is a malevolent lie.
We can be better than this...we are better than this. But the overwhelming current of of capitalism, facsism, corruption, and abuse of power is pulling us all down. It will drown us if we do not resist it because it is a philosophy based on greed, bigotry, divisiveness, and domination. We have no choice, there is only one way if change is ever to be hoped for. We must speak out. We must demonstrate. We must resist."
We have become a nation of "show me your papers". That should terrify every single person in this country. Anyone who supports or votes for that should and may lose their freedom.
We have become a nation of "show me your papers". That should terrify every single person in this country. Anyone who supports or votes for that should and may lose their freedom.
So as it turns out, it is much safer to attack the U.S. Capitol beating and killing law officers as the president watches and does nothing to stop it than it is to drive away from ICE. Who knew.
\\ The video shows Ross getting out of a vehicle and walking toward a red SUV where Good sits in the driver’s seat. Sirens blare as he walks toward her. She smiles at him and says: “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.” As Ross walks alongside the car, she repeats: “I’m not mad at you.” As he reaches the back of the vehicle, another person, presumably Good’s wife, Becca, says: “Show your face.” As he begins to record the vehicle’s license plate, the same person says: “That’s okay, we don’t change our plates every morning,” referring to stories that agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) switch out plates to make their vehicles hard to track. “Just so you know, it’ll be the same plate when you come talk to us later.” Ross’s camera pans up to show the person recording him on her cell phone. She continues: “That’s fine. U.S. citizen. Former f*cking veteran.” As she walks to the passenger-side door, she looks at him and says: “You wanna come at us? You wanna come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy. Go ahead.” Another officer approaches the driver’s side of the vehicle and says to Renee Good: “Out of the car. Get out of the f*cking car.” As the passenger calmly reaches for the passenger-side door handle, the police officer on the driver’s side again says: “Get out of the car!” Other videos indicate that he had then put his hand into the car and was trying to open the door. Good quite clearly turns the wheel hard away from the police officers to head down the street as the passenger yells: “Drive, baby! Drive! Drive!” Someone says “Whoa!” as the car moves down the street. Ross’s camera shows his face and then sways—remember, he has been filming all this on his phone. There are three shots and the houses on the side of the street swing back into view on Ross’s camera, indicating he did not drop it. As the car rolls up the street, Ross says, “F*cking bitch!” just before there is the sound of a smash. What is truly astonishing is that the administration thought this video would exonerate Ross and support the administration’s insistence that he was under attack from a domestic terrorist trying to ram him with her car.
