What’s at stake for markets as the Supreme Court gets ready to hear Trump tariff arguments
I am thinking (maybe naively) that "erratic and dangerous" is a "give 'em enough rope" situation. There are people who will be around to face the music, who may be starting to think that they will be left holding the bag.
trump will either be dead, or legally found incompetent, sooner not later. Cracks are forming in the levee. Reputations, legacies, careers, are hanging in the balance. Maybe mutiny is in the cards? Once a few step into the breech, many rats may follow.
A year ago, who would have thought that MTG would be bailing?

This is the inevitable ending for a lame duck prez who is destroying his own party in addition to the entire country. The GOP will save themselves and bury him when the time is right.
Some speculated that he is dying with the talks of not getting into heaven. Health-wise, he is declining rapidly with frequent napping and incoherent ranting in important meetings.
Not onlyVance, Rubio is ambitious but for the wrong motivation.
Let’s be careful what we wish for. Think of who is one heartbeat from the presidency. Not a lean and hungry man but ambitious beyond belief and controlled by the likes of Peter Thiel. What could go wrong?
Not hardly. My take: EAT the Rich. In so many ways, in so many directions, what the wealthiest are doing and lobbying for is an entire separate space, their own private society, apart from the rest of us. No need to pay taxes, cuz they're all independently wealthy, anyhow. Just screw the rest of us. (Oops, I mean "them," not us.) I saw a report, but now I can't find it again for sharing purposes: this very thing is being attempted in TN. Peter Thiel and his bunch.
A Kiel Institute study found US tariffs are mostly paid by American importers and consumers.
The study found foreign exporters paid only around 4% of the tariff cost.
The research contradicts Trump's messaging that Americans aren't paying for tariffs.
A favorite tool of President Donald Trump has been costing Americans, according to new study.
The brunt of US tariffs — 96% — have been paid by US buyers, research from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German think tank, found, while about 4% of the tariff burden was paid by foreign exporters.
"American importers and consumers bear nearly all the cost," the researchers said of the tariffs.
The study, published Monday, said that the $200 billion increase in customs revenue that the US government raised in 2025 was a "tax paid almost entirely by Americans."
He's now threatening tariffs on Macron/France if they don't pay-to-join his liddle fake UN club* for $1 billion. If SCOTUS was smart, they'd see this clown is far beyond using tariffs for any legitimate national security purpose (which he repeatedly has claimed).
* Which is Mar-a-Lardo on steroids; $1 billion to join as a permanent member, but Donnie as chair has total say in how the collected monies are to be spent.

The corruption of the UN club is beyond anything Richard Nixon would do. I thought Nixon was crooked, but this man far exceeded Nixon.
This New York Times editorial is a well-documented report of how Donald Trump has used his presidency to enrich himself and his family by $1,408,500,000 in just one year. The report is a dramatic visually enhanced sequence of facts, which cannot be replicated here.
All told, Mr. Trump has profited from his return to the presidency by an amount of money equal to 16,822 times the median U.S. household income.
Mr. Trump’s hunger for wealth is brazen. Throughout the nation’s history, presidents of both parties have taken care to avoid even the appearance of profiting from public service. This president gleefully squeezes American corporations, flaunts gifts from foreign governments and celebrates the rapid growth of his own fortune.
When President Harry Truman left office in 1953, he did not even own a car. He and his wife returned to Missouri by train and lived for a time on his Army pension. He refused to take any job that he regarded as commercializing his public service, explaining, “I knew that they were not interested in hiring Harry Truman, the person, but what they wanted to hire was the former president of the United States.” Mr. Trump has said that when he leaves office, he plans to take with him a $400 million Boeing 747 that was a gift from Qatar, and to display it at his presidential library.

"presidential library..." That comical. He can't even read.
LOL
His 'library' will be letters to himself, 'beautiful' love letters shared by fellow dictators, and a MAGA-curated display of his zillions of 'wins' as 'president.' And oh yeah, don't forget his gifted luxury g̶e̶t̶a̶w̶a̶y̶ v̶e̶h̶i̶c̶l̶e̶ plane.
Along with, of course, a chintzy high-end hotel, chintzier conference center, and retail shopping, because nothing spells 'legacy' to Donnie than chintz with his bigly name on it in gold script.

Don't bet on it. The SCOTUS majority is OWNED.
