State Capitalism

edited February 1 in Other Investing
The United States has been moving towards state capitalism recently.
Should the federal government be picking potential winners and losers?
Will this lead to optimal capital allocation?
Free-market proponents vociferously objected to government regulation and "interference" in the past.
Now, there is nary a whisper!

Issues of corruption and insider trading are prevalent as well. Govt purchases of Intel, US Steel, MP Materials, etc.

All part of an authoritarian coup.
  • Thanks for bringing it to our attention. How does these companies report their government investment on the earning statement ? Lots of room to cook the book. Unfortunately, this type of interference is spreading in publicly traded stocks.
  • Well. It's not some government bureaucracy that is trying to run our economy. It's our president pulling stuff out of his . . . hat, as his senile moods and grievances strikes him.
  • Odd place to wear a hat...
  • Not for him. That's where his head is.
  • Well done!
  • Nice work gentlemen.:-D
