US and Israel Launch "Pre-Emptive" Attack Against Iran

edited February 28 in Off-Topic
"An Israeli defence official said the operation had been planned for months in coordination
with Washington, and that the launch date was decided weeks ago."

"The U.S. and Iran renewed negotiations in February in a bid to resolve the decades-long dispute
through diplomacy and avert the threat of a military confrontation that could destabilise the region."

"Israel, however, insisted that any U.S. deal with Iran must include the dismantling of Tehran's
nuclear infrastructure, not just stopping the enrichment process, and lobbied Washington to include
restrictions on Iran's missile programme in the talks."

Comments: Donald J. Trump promised to keep the U.S. out of new "forever wars"
and to stop the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine during his 2024 campaign.
Unsurprisingly, POTUS (Pedophile of the United States) has broken these campaign promises.
The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is oppressive and it sows terrorism throughout the region.
But could the situation have been handled differently and was an attack neccessary at this particular moment?
Is this course of action in our—not Israel's—national best interest?
Trump's reckless policies in the Afghan war resulted in failure and were a real embarassment to our country.
Prior results do not inspire confidence—the U.S. may get entangled in another long conflict in the Middle East!

Earlier this week, US embassy employees in Israel were ordered to leave the country suggested the war is imminent. The war has started this morning, Feb 28, 2026 as confirmed by WSJ and Bloomberg. As expected, both sides launched air campaign at each other.

Iran may have acquired advanced anti-ship missiles from China and Faulkland conflict experience may unfold again. Ironically, there are few buildup of US troops near the region that precludes the possibility of “boots on the ground” for regime changes. Again, no authorization from Congress to launch a war. This is a mess.
  • So to summarize:

    1) Self-created conflict for US
    2) No authorization from Congress on his latest Friday night special
    3) Deflects from pedophile investigations

  • Trump’s tweets saying Obama will start war with Iran to distract from domestic failures come back to haunt him
In 2012 and 2013, Trump repeatedly insinuated that then-President Barack Obama would start a war with Iran to shore up his re-election effort and to distract from his supposed faults as a leader.

Obama never did attack Iran. That cannot be said for Trump, who has now attacked the Middle Eastern republic three times during across his two terms in office.

On January 17, 2012, Trump wrote on social media that he believed Obama would "attack Iran in order to get re-elected."

He repeated his prediction in August of that year, insisting that Obama would, "in some form" attack Iran before the election.

  • Believe it or not, there are US installations and troops in Jordan. Before my visit in 2004, I never knew. Along with Qatar and Bahrain, Jordan was attacked on Saturday because of the U.S. presence there. Jordan Armed Forces downed 49 drones, and this report says there were no casualties.

That covers it! I am not going to speculate on the myriad of negative outcomes, but it certainly highlights the reason that war must be declared and approved by Congress.

Is this a war crime? Very possibly. Will it blow up in his face? Who knows? Was it an unsanctioned assassination of a foreign leader? It seems so.

It was most certainly a one-man unilateral attack.

War with Iran | PBS News Special Report

Comments: Reports indicate that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed.
A commentator mentioned that video footage showed Iranians in several cities celebrating his death.
Will the Iranian Revolutionary Guards take control of the government and rule with an iron fist
or will there be a major revolt / regime change that benefits the majority of the Iranian population?

    Buckle your seatbelts!

"President Trump on Monday said 'this was our last best chance to strike' Iran,
justifying the operation and suggesting it would last four to five weeks—or 'whatever it takes.'"

    "Trump outlined four main objectives: destroying Iran’s missile capabilities; annihilating its Navy;
preventing the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon; and stopping Iran from arming, funding
and directing terrorist groups outside its borders."

"Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. was adding forces in
the Middle East to support its operation in Iran, as the conflict widened across the region."

"Iran’s security chief said Tehran 'will not negotiate' with the U.S."
  • edited March 3
As usual, TDS prevents people from seeing the imminent risk and understanding the broader global implications.

Iran has killed, maimed, and tortured thousands of its own citizens, as well as people in other countries. It has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers and the injury of many more. Iran remains the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

Iran has repeatedly referred to the United States as the “Great Satan” and Israel as the “Little Satan,” while planning and executing thousands of terror attacks throughout the Middle East and around the world.
They really mean it. It's a guarntee they will use the bomb one day.

In recent months, they have been building thousands of missiles and are rapidly advancing toward acquiring a nuclear weapon.
European governments have publicly condemned its actions as a threat to regional and international security. European leaders have criticized Iranian strikes on sovereign neighbors and expressed concern about impacts that could reach Europe itself.
Imagine how much more dangerous the situation would be if Iran had nuclear capabilities.

They do not negotiate in good faith, and they will not willingly give up their ambitions.

Now Democrats are screaming, as usual, asking why we don’t try another approach. We have tried other approaches, for over four decades. Did it work? NO.
If we don’t act now, they will obtain nuclear weapons and begin threatening many more countries.

When Trump said he would go after Maduro, Democrats claimed it would be a long, complicated operation and that many would die. That didn’t happen.

A war with Iran would be far more complex. But if not now, then within 6–12 months it may be too late.

BTW, I have no doubt that more Iranian terrorists entered the country during Biden’s term than during any previous administration.
You think you’re safe in New York or California? Think again. Distance won’t protect you. It’s long past time to wake up and face what this murderous regime has been doing for decades across the globe, and what it is still capable of doing.

Go ahead, start screaming (orange, illegal, unconstitutional) and using foul language

"Trump’s strikes on Iran could have had something to do with the increasing heat over the Epstein files
or his fury that the Supreme Court struck down his tariff walls, which were central not only to his
economic program but also to his pressure on foreign governments and companies to do his bidding.
Possibly he was responding to pressure from Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu
or Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, or both.
    "

"Today the State Department told U.S. citizens to leave Gulf states immediately because of
'serious safety risks,' 'using available commercial transportation.'
But many of the airports in the region are closed, some because they have been hit in the fighting.
Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA) posted on social media: 'Dear [Secretary of State Marco Rubio]:
You told Americans to depart now via commercial means when you know many airports/airspace are closed.
YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULE U.S. GOVERNMENT EVACUATION FLIGHTS FOR THE STRANDED
AMERICANS IN DANGER. Maybe you should have thought of a frickin’ plan first.'"

"Former paratrooper and Army Ranger Representative Jason Crow (D-CO) also had something to say
about the reality of war. 'I learned, years ago, that when elites like Donald Trump bang the war drums
and pound their chests in Washington, D.C., and talk about sending troops into the ground
or into combat, he’s not talking about his kids. He’s not talking about all of his minions’ kids.

He is talking about kids like me and the people that I grew up [with] in working-class areas,
rural places around the country that have to pick up rifles, jump in the tanks or helicopters,
and…do the tough work. Well, America is over it. America is over the three trillion dollars we’ve spent.
The quagmires of failed nation building.'"

Comments: Contrary to the Trump administration's claims, Iran did not pose an imminent threat to the U.S.
The Defense Intelligence Agency assessed the missile threat in May 2025 and determined that Iran could
develop a long-range missile by 2035 if it chose to pursue this option.

Donald J. Trump's stated reasons for starting this unnecessary war of choice have shifted and are contradictory. Is Trump seeking regime change or not? The president has encouraged Iranians to topple their government
but the Iranian population is largely unarmed. How can they defeat the Iranian Revolutionary Guards?
It doesn't appear that the Trump administation has carefully considered potentially chaotic outcomes
    after major hostilities have ended.

If President "Bonespurs" Trump felt this war was really necessary, perhaps he could send his son,
    Barron, into combat?
A truly strong leader should be able to demonstrate shared sacrifices that need to be made during wartime.

Our State Department told U.S. citizens to leave 14 Gulf states but many airports are closed.
Who the hell is conducting this ill-conceived Iranian operation, the Keystone Cops?

    A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted from 02/28 - 03/01 found that 43% of Americans disapprove
of U.S. military strikes on Iran while 27% approve and approximately 30% are unsure.
I guess I shouldn't worry too much about all of this—what could go wrong anyway?

and ensuring that 'this sick and sinister regime' in Iran 'can never obtain a nuclear weapon.'
But how will we know when we’ve achieved any of this?"

are coming. He hasn’t ruled out sending in ground troops. Neither Trump nor anyone else in his
regime has provided any clarity about how we’ll know whether we’ve 'won' this war.
    "

    and to whom he’s speaking.
Asked by NBC News what his objectives are, he said,
'Number one is decapitating them, getting rid of their whole group of killers and thugs.'

LOL. Can you imagine actually being the sort of person who spouts things like "TDS", "fake news" and blames "the media" for things that pols do?

One might assume they don't know how ill-informed it makes them sound. How it sounds like childish whining. How ironic it is, when you consider that their guy spends most days obsessing over past presidents and Nobel Peace Prizes? Typing in all caps about TV comedians who don't like him. Accepting prizes and trophies that other people actually earned.

Then these same people are promised all sorts of things, like "affordability" and "no more foreign interventions" and "good" jobs in dying industries. But, fail to comprehend it when the rug gets yanked out from under their very feet.

Prez said it best when he touted how much he loved the uneducated. It is obvious why.
