Iran's Strategy

  • WaPo reports 82nd Airborne exercises abruptly cancelled .... are they getting deployed to Iran?

This comes just after big hospital at Ramstein AB in Germany announced that 'very high leadership' ordered it to cease offering late term maternity/labor delivery care since it's unrelated to the hospital’s “primary objective” -- which is to provide emergency & trauma care to those wounded in combat.

Makes ya wonder what this weekend / week will bring.
  • Oof! Sobering thoughts, indeed.

Another more important dynamic in the region is less about oil installations and more about water processing plants.

Absolutely. Thank you @bee. Please see free article below for the same topic. The original Bloomberg article is behind a paywall.

Comments were a better fit in another thread.
  • The cost of the war in Iran is estimated at $1 billion per day.
This war of choice will likely increase our already large fiscal deficit.

    Typical Lib hypocrisy.
The war in Ukraine is already at
    180-190 billions and 4 years.
Dems don't have any problem with that.
    Pretty funny.

    Pretty sad!
  • @bee absolutely true. There are SO MANY interconnected angles to all of this business!
(I make an effort to keep in mind that Orange Child is a Russian asset, and then, what's happening all around makes a lot more sense, in a twisted sort of way. Who would EVER have dreamed that a US Prez would be a lapdog for the Kremlin????)
  • It's sad because it's true.

    @realdonaldtrump

If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far. Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen! This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Question: If Iran hasn't stopped the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, then who has?

Aren't rising energy costs due to the reduced supply of oil coming through the Hormuz Strait? Tankers that normally carry oil are not sailing, cutting the world off from about one-fifth of its oil supply. What am I missing, DONALD TRUMP?
  • "Question: If Iran hasn't stopped the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, then who has?"

Insurance prices for shipping oil via the Strait of Hormuz have risen sharply.
Shippers have decided the risks outweigh the potential rewards.
  • Major disruptions to oil supply can turn a geopolitical event into a significant economic event.
How long will it take for oil shipments to resume via the Strait of Hormuz?

Great job. One graph said it all !

He is gonna ask his daddy Putin for Russian oil. How pathetic!

How convenient. See how that works?
  • Just the way Putin drew it up!

    Trump is just his puppet.

"The Kremlin said Trump had called Putin and, in their first telephone call this year,
they discussed Russian ideas for a speedy end to the conflict in Iran, the military
situation in Ukraine and the impact of events in Venezuela on the global oil market."

  • "Call Uncle Vlad before you make any moves."

    What a s**t-show.
  • Russia is quietly benefitting from the increased oil sale to the Pacific countries.

This Iran war is far from finished. When you strike a hornet nest, you cannot expect the hornet to behave and play nice. What is there left to negotiate when you killed many of their senior leadership ?
  • Trump and or bibi killed the new guy’s mom, dad, wife and kid. Not much reason to think he would feel like negotiating any time soon or ever.

  • - putin gets oil sanction relief
    - trump gets cost-effective drone tech (promptly stolen by the trumplet's company)
    - ukraine gets to practice on newly unsanctioned russian ships

  • Wait, so we aren't getting 90 million new customers for McDonalds and Starbucks?

And the only item (oil) that was actually lower in price since tariffs, is now going up?

    Is this Biden's fault?

This is the basis for the GOP campaign slogan. It's what they run on. Poor ole Joe Biden is the root cause of all the world's ills. FoxNews says so each and every day.

  • Imagine the immense power that Biden wields, like a supervillain. He sets into motion events that allow the economy to flourish during his reign, then collapse a full 14 months later. Despite the well-known advantages of broad-based tariffs. And several wars, to improve things. Even a stable genius, like trump, is powerless to reverse the course of events.

I would assume that Biden's master plan has corrupted the economy in such a fashion that the next 3 years will be an economic hellscape. Damn you, Joe Biden. No wonder trump is so angry all of the time.
