@Ted: Exactly what part of that is wrong?

@johnN: Well, I'm certainly around in various places. Probably my most active is @hank's ongoing 737 thread. Ted is here as usual with literally hundreds of posts in the "Discussions" section, and MikeM has been posting a fair amount also.

Boeing Scrambles To Restore Faith In Its 737 Max Airplane After Crashes
A current NPR report is describing software fixes and other improvements for the 737 Max fleet in the greatest detail yet this week. Among the changes Boeing detailed to report…
@carew388- And if I recall correctly, these is considerable suspicion that the British, despite being well aware of the German U-boat operating in that area, deliberately allowed the Lusitania to be sunk, hoping to ensnare the US in that war.
A current Washington Post article from their Business section:
"Boeing, initially defensive, now ‘humbled’ by 737 Max crisis"
Selected excerpts:

@msf- Yes, it's definitely a theoretically decent alternative approach. To me, though, the weakness lies in the statement (from your article):

Exhibit One: Ted's obvious desire to continue his attempts to set the rules and dominate MFO while completely ignoring David's request to stop gaming the system.
Well, I tried.

@PopTart posted this link from Schwab yesterday on this subject. It's an interesting and in-depth discussion of the historical implications of this indicator, with excellent charting, by Liz Ann Sonders.
I'm not certain of the details, but I seem to recall that their bank guarantee system is not nearly as robust as ours. In any case, I was referring to large businesses, whose coverage needs would likely exceed any guarantee either here or there.
@Old_Skeet- Thanks. I find it highly ironic that the one person who so frequently castigates others for alleged rule violations feels completely free to do anything he wants himself.
As long as Ted honors the rules I have no problem with him.
Of course it's ridiculous. But if a business needs to hold large amounts of cash, just about the only way to get the equivalent of FDIC coverage is to buy a government bond, and pay 0.074% for the guaranteed coverage.

The POINT was retiring in your mid-thirty's with no further earned income. That's a long way from 85 minus "several years". If you had retired with no income when you were 35 how exactly would you now have a home with no mortgage?
"Saw her long time ago during a PBS donation drive." Likewise, and I never did care for her. Nevertheless, the question that she was answering postulated retiring "in your 30's". Assuming no significant inheritance, no further employment, no accumul…
I'm sure you guys are right about the insignificance of electric and hybrid on a national basis. Here in the SF Bay Area though it seems as if every fourth vehicle is either electric or (especially) hybrid. Lots of hybrids, mostly the Toyotas.
Perhaps you guys are misguided. I'm pretty sure that billionaires must be making our lives much better, easier and fairer, or Ted wouldn't have said that. I'll get back to you in a while when I figure out how they are doing all that.
@hank- Well, a reluctant "congratulations" from me can't really disguise my great disappointment at your having received Ted's 'Stupid Statement Award Of The Decade' trophy. Because of my age, there's now almost no chance that I'll live long enough…
