Mid-Year MFO Ratings Posted ... New Navigation Bar
Thanks YBB. Last night's drop running now. Should post soon. Suspect data on ETFs more readily available to Lipper, but even if an OEF does not have most current daily update, FLOW should still work using to last available update. I will take a look. c
Looks like the issue was caused by how I was handling different share classes and the monthly only updates.
All the MFO flow tools (FLOW, FLOWS, TNA) roll AUM and flows to oldest share class level, which makes things a little more complicated, but worth it.
Also, some fund houses only provide OEF flow updates monthly, not daily (e.g., PIMCO, D&C ... the latter actually delays their updates). The funds you listed are only updated monthly: VFIAX, VFINX, VWELX, ABALX, FCNTX.
But, fixed now. The FLOW combo chart should reflect whatever data Lipper has posted for any OEF or ETF you punch in.
Looks like Lipper posts the dailies at about 9pm Pacific and then a second drop at 9am the follow day.
Will see how this goes in days ahead. Will post again tonight after 9pm drop. Saturday will be the full drop for both performance and flows ... month ending April. Flows, MTD, and WTD through Friday, 2 May.
@yogibearbull. I've added another month to your subscription. Thank you for always helping to make MFOP and the Discussion Board better!
Just posted all ratings to MFO Premium site, using Refinitiv data drop from Friday, 30 May 2025. Was able to get preview of next Saturday's full data drop by using Friday's MTD data for May returns.
Just posted all ratings to MFO Premium site, using Refinitiv data drop from Friday, 13 June 2025. Flows too updated through 6 June, but FLOW through 13 June.
Just posted all ratings to MFO Premium site, using Refinitiv data drop from Monday, 30 June 2025. Was able to get preview of next Saturday's full data drop by using MTD data for June returns.
@yogibearbull. Yeah, sorry YBB. Probably because early post was just a peak at mid-year ... suspect all good now, given full Lipper drop. Let me know if not.
Thanks for the update! It’s always reassuring to know the MFO Premium site is up to date. The variety of tools—from MultiSearch to Ferguson Metrics—really helps make fund analysis easier and more insightful. I especially appreciate the human effort behind keeping everything accurate and useful. Great work and much appreciated.
Just posted all ratings to MFO Premium site, using Refinitiv data drop from Friday, 11 July 2025. FLOW combo tool updated through yesterday.
Typically, we try to post on Saturday, day of Lipper drop. But we incorporated a new Navigation Bar, which includes links to new stand-alone pages that used to be embedded in the Welcome page: What's New, Screenshots, Webinars, and Summary Download table.
The top line of the Navigator includes Site Info links. The 2nd line includes links to free search tools for the MFO community. And the 3rd line includes links to premium search tools and analytics.
Hoping the new format will help improve visibility into all the tools and resources offered on the site. But it involved quite a bit of coding, so if you see something amiss, please post to Discussion board or email me at [email protected].
The 3-line Menu Bar looks better than previous 2-line Menu Bar.
Lot of good stuff is within ANALYTICS. The 3rd Menu line seems to highlight 3 items within ANALYTICS - FLOW, AVERAGES, FAMILIES.
However, a quick look showed that:
Line 3 - FLOW is quite similar to ANALYTICS - FLOW.
Line 3 - AVERAGES and ANALYTICS - AVERAGES seem to differ in the periods shown.
Line 3 - FAMILIES is a summary while ANALYTICS - FAMILY is a search feature.
So, one may ask,
1. Are these 3 items the best to be highlighted in the 3rd line?
2. Should some name variations be introduced because they don't act identically.
BTW, RETURNS also appear multiple times, but the categories they appear under sort of indicate their differences (CHART, CALENDAR YEAR, FIXED PERIOD). May be CHART - RETURNS can be labeled TR CHART and also added to the 3rd line, or substitute something there.
Thanks ybb. Here's the new nav bar collapsed (without Analytics menu expanded):
New MFOP Navigation Bar (Collapsed)
FLOW is such a cool tool, I put it in main line. Like RISKPROFILE. They are each the same tool inside the ANALYTICS menu or in the ANALYZE pull-down menus on each tool page.
Right. The AVERAGES link on main line is for a separate tool showing averages for various periods. Been around a while. The AVERAGES in ANALYTICS are averages across all CALENDAR YEARs (back to 1960) and the several dozen FIXED PERIODs.
Yeah. I tried keeping the tools names short in the menus. So, FAMILIES is short for Fund Family Scorecard. And, yes, I believe it's self-evident that RETURNS and other metrics are for the vehicle indicated. If you hover cursor over each link, you will find a more expanded definition. (Same for header columns in most tools, like MULTISEARCH.)
The idea behind expanded ANALYTICS menu in nav bar is to be able to "one click" your way around the site for the selected funds without having to use the pulldown menus.
The new SCREENSHOTS page should help to better illustrate all tools available.
And, there are now some descriptive bullets for each webinar depicted on the WEBINARS page.
Hope soon to introduce several "How To" videos on the @MFOPremium site, which I will highlight in new nav bar as well.
Comments
Several ETFs - they work. Great!
But OEFs were hit & miss - some runs were completed (FDGRX, QREARX), but others failed to finish.
Failed Examples - VFIAX, VFINX, VWELX, ABALX / BALFX, FCNTX.
(Notably, SP500 ETFs IVV, SPY, VOO worked)
Tried both Chrome & Edge. Before each run, I used RESET in the 2nd Menu bar at the top.
@yogibearbull. Yes, seeing same issue you are ... no data for those funds. Bear with me as I resolve.
