By all means, watch and listen to the whole thing, but if you want to skip some preliminary chatter, start at 9:38.
The Daily Beast: "Inside Trump's Head." An everyday feature.

  • Senate Republicans push back on Trump’s aspirations to seize Greenland.

Following are excerpts from a current report in The New York Times:
A clutch of Senate Republicans on Wednesday denounced considerations by the White House to acquire Greenland, through military force or other means, deriding the plans as “insane” and “unseemly.” The rebuke came days after Secretary of State Marco Rubio told lawmakers that President Trump plans to buy the territory that falls under the sovereign boundaries of Denmark, a member of NATO.

Congressional Republicans have mounted little in the way of pushback toward any of the sweeping executive measures Mr. Trump has taken during the second term of his presidency. But the opposition toward his interest in the taking control of the island was quickly stacking up. “I heard no support within our caucus for introducing troops into Greenland to take Greenland, a military action to take Greenland,” Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky, said. “Zero support. I’ve not heard anybody in the hallways, in the gym, anywhere.”

A visibly outraged Senator Thom Tillis, Republican of North Carolina, took to the Senate floor and castigated “insane comments about how it is our right to” take over Greenland, singling out comments made by Stephen Miller, a top aide to President Trump. “You don’t speak on behalf of this U.S. senator or the Congress,” Mr. Tillis said, referring to Mr. Miller. “You can say it may be the position of the president of the United States that Greenland should be a part of the United States, but it’s not the position of this government. Because we are a co-equal branch, and if that were come to pass, there would be a vote on the floor to make it real. Not the surreal sort of environment that some deputy chief of staff thinks was cute to say on TV.”

Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the former majority leader, released a statement praising how “cooperation with Arctic allies from Canada to the Nordics already grants the United States sweeping access to positions of strategic importance.” “Threats and intimidation by U.S. officials over American ownership of Greenland are as unseemly as they are counterproductive,” Mr. McConnell said. “And the use of force to seize the sovereign democratic territory of one of America’s most loyal and capable allies would be an especially catastrophic act of strategic self-harm to America and its global influence.”

Senator Jerry Moran, Republican of Kansas, said to reporters at the Capitol, “We’re not going to take over another country that’s our ally.”

“As Greenland charts its future, we must see it as an ally,” Senator Lisa Murkowski, Republican of Alaska, said, “not an asset.”

Comment:   Senate GOP possibly finding their testicles?

  • Saying it and doing it are two different events. We'll see if it ever comes up for a vote.

Even the Maggot "base" may be gagging on this one. Going to be interesting to watch. Stephen Miller doesn't seem to be held in high regard... that's something at least.
  • We have seen the pattern: trump trying to steal from other countries, under the guise of "taking back'. Judge, Jury and executionary, all in one!

He has tried with Ukraine, He is trying with Greenland. He is doing it with VZ. He is trying to squeeze Canada over a pittance of trade deficit. Screwing the ordinary taxpayer to assist the wealthiest.

He is a thief. Always has been. Always will be. maga wanted a thief. They just did not realize he was going to do it to them too. Foolhardy of them. Now they are losing health benefits, watching inflation eat at their earnings/savings, losing child care assistance, losing educational assistance. every single benefit that trump takes from Dems, hits maga just as hard.

  • If Congress wanted to be viewed as a "co-equal branch", they should have nipped this in the bud many years ago. Now, they have proven just how easy it is to steamroll our Constitution by ANY POTUS with the will. And every single one of these "caucs" aided and abetted the takeover.

Let us all imagine Stephen Miller in a SS uniform. I'd make one up, but he doesn't warrant the effort.
  • Who else has noticed that RFK jr sounds like the crazy cat lady from The Simpsons?
  • Alt National Park Service"

"To the MAGA accounts coming to our page (we will block you). But here is the truth. Claims that this was self-defense do not hold up. Watch the video closely. The ICE agent is no longer in front of the vehicle when he fires. He shoots through the driver-side window, which means his body is no longer in the vehicle’s path and he is not in immediate danger. You can clearly see this by the positioning of his feet.
Under real law-enforcement standards, deadly force is only justified when there is an imminent, ongoing threat. Once an officer removes themselves from harm’s way, that justification ends. You cannot step out of danger and then continue firing and still claim self-defense.
Firing point-blank from the side of the vehicle, including three shots to the head, is not threat-stopping it demonstrates lethal intent after the threat had passed. No properly trained law enforcement officer or member of the military is taught to do this. Officers are trained to move away, create distance, seek cover, and de-escalate not surround a vehicle, provoke a situation, and then claim fear.
You can watch the videos for yourself. Trump’s response (don’t trust your own eyes) echoes George Orwell’s 1984: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
Shooting through the driver-side window when you are no longer in front of the car is not self-defense. That is murder."
  • Andy Borowitz:

"If Donald Trump’s government can murder a woman in broad daylight for exercising her First Amendment rights, they can murder any of us.

If congressional Republicans had a shred of decency, they would impeach and remove Kristi Noem.

If those Republicans cherished the USA more than their jobs, they would impeach and remove Donald Trump.

If they don’t, it’s up to us to remove them.

If you’ve had enough, let’s get to work."
  • Well, since they have banned the state from investigating/prosecuting the case and given it to the FBI, led by a corrupt incompetent, murder will become self-defense. The message to the ICE force will be shoot at will, don't worry about consequences.
  • They even LOOK alike!

  • Minnesota Officials Say They’re Being Blocked From Investigating Fatal ICE Shooting

Following are excerpts from a current report in The New York Times:
A top state law enforcement official said Thursday that federal agencies were denying Minnesota investigators access to evidence from a fatal shooting by an immigration enforcement officer the day before, preventing them from participating in the inquiry into an incident that officials have described in starkly different terms.

Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said on Thursday that his agency had withdrawn from the investigation of the death of Renee Nicole Good, 37, as a result: “Without complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public demands,” Mr. Evans said in a statement.

Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, said it was a matter of jurisdiction.

“They have not been cut out,” Ms. Noem said at a news conference Thursday, in response to a reporter who asked about state investigators. “They don’t have any jurisdiction in this investigation.”

Tim Walz, the governor, said at a news conference that “Minnesota must be part of this investigation.”

“I say that only because people in positions of power have already passed judgment,” Mr. Walz added. He said that some of the federal government’s statements regarding the circumstances of the shooting had been “verifiably false.”

Comment:   Ms. Noem said “They don’t have any jurisdiction in this investigation.”
Ms. Noem "says" and that's that. Might as well be in China or Russia with this Federal crew running things.

    and this also-
Vice-president Vance said that local state authorities had no jurisdiction over the ongoing investigation into Wednesday’s deadly shooting in Minneapolis. This comes as the Minneosta Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said the case would “solely led by the FBI” after BCA’s access to evidence was revoked.

Vance said the investigation is a “federal issue”, and the ICE agent who killed Renee Good “is protected by absolute immunity”.

“He was doing his job,” the vice-president added. “The idea that Tim Walz and a bunch of radicals in Minneapolis are going to go after and make this guy’s life miserable because he was doing the job that he was asked to do is preposterous.”
Comment:   The government killer squads now have "absolute immunity". My, that didn't take long. Now the government simply makes up shit as needed at the moment. I wonder if "president" trump had any influence on that?

Kristi Noem doubles down on claim ICE agent killed woman in self-defense

Following are excerpts from a current report in The Guardian:

DHS secretary’s claims have been widely disputed with video of shooting showing vehicle turning away from agent
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, has doubled down on her claim that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis was acting in self-defense and responding to an “act of domestic terrorism”.

Noem also said that she was “not opposed” to sending additional federal agents to Minneapolis.

Speaking at a news conference in New York City on Thursday morning, Noem claimed that the victim, Renee Nicole Good, had been following and harassing the ICE agents as they conducted enforcement operations in the area. Noem reiterated the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) assertion that Good used her vehicle “as a weapon” and had tried to run over the officer.

Those claims have been widely disputed by both local and state leaders in Minnesota as well as by eyewitnesses. Video footage of the shooting also shows that Good’s vehicle appeared to be turning away from the officer as he opened fire.

Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis Democratic mayor, slammed the DHS’s account of the incident as a “garbage narrative” on Wednesday. “They’re already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense,” Frey said. “Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly: that is bullshit.”

New York City’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, described the shooting as “the latest horror in a year full of cruelty”: “As ICE attacks our neighbors across America, it is an attack on us all,” Mamdani said. “New York stands with immigrants today, and every day that follows.”

Throughout today’s White House briefing, vice-president Vance has repeatedly claimed, baselessly, that Renee Good was part of a “left wing network” of people who are trying to “incite violence against our law enforcement officers”. This is classic terrorism, and we cannot say that when the far-left fringe is inciting violence against our brave law enforcement officials, that we’re no longer going to enforce the law. That’s rewarding the very people who are engaged in this garbage.

He continued to disparage Good as he answered questions from reporters, characterizing her as “a victim of left wing ideology”.

“What young mother shows up and decides they’re going to throw their car in front of ICE officers who are enforcing legitimate law. You’ve got to be a little brainwashed to get to that point,” Vance said.

    HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
This morning, a federal agent from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good as she was driving away from ICE agents on a residential street in Minneapolis, Minnesota. According to Minneapolis leaders, Good was a legal observer: a volunteer trained to observe police conduct in case of future legal action.

Three videos taken at the scene show a maroon SUV perpendicular on a snowy street. A silver SUV driving up the street stops. Two officers wearing badges that say “police” and body armor get out of the vehicle and walk toward the maroon car.

One of them says, “Get out of the f*cking car,” and the other reaches through the open driver’s side window while trying to open the door. The driver backs up the vehicle, and straightens the wheel as if making a three-point turn. Then she starts slowly to accelerate along the street.

A third officer who has been standing on the side of the road pulls out a gun as the car is turning away. He shoots three times. The maroon car does not hit anyone as it rolls up the street, hitting another vehicle and then a utility pole. The shooter walks briskly away, apparently uninjured.

Seen in slow motion, a video shows the wheels of the maroon vehicle were fully turned away from the shooting officer, who made no effort to jump away, clearly suggesting he did not feel as if he were in danger. His first shot went through the windshield; the next two went through the driver’s side window as the car moved past him. An onlooker shouted “What the f*ck?!”

Video taken by another eyewitness shows ICE agents refusing to allow a self-identified physician to tend to the victim and telling him to back up. Although there is no one tending the clearly visible woman in the car, an agent says: “We have medics on scene. We have our own medics.” When another bystander screams: “Where are they? WHERE ARE THEY?!” an agent tells her, “Relax.” “How can I relax?” she shouts. “You just killed my f*cking neighbor.”

Yesterday the Trump administration deployed federal agents and officers to Minneapolis for what they called the largest federal immigration operation ever carried out, eventually planning to deploy 2,000 agents. The administration has been attacking Minnesota’s Somali community, and Homeland Security Kristi Noem was present at an ICE arrest yesterday, telling a man in handcuffs, who Homeland Security later said was from Ecuador, “You will be held accountable for your crimes.”

Rebecca Santana and Michael Balsamo of the Associated Press reported that Minnesota governor Tim Walz called the deployment “a war that’s being waged against Minnesota.” “You’re seeing that we have a ridiculous surge of apparently 2,000 people not coordinating with us, that are for a show of cameras,” he said.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) insists that its actions are protecting American citizens from “the worst of the worst” criminal immigrants, so the shooting of a young white woman, the mother of a young child, and how that would look, made it appear eager to smear Good.

It immediately put out a statement that looked much like what it said after officers shot 30-year-old Chicago teaching assistant Marimar Martinez in October when it claimed she had “ambushed” agents, ramming their vehicle before an agent shot her five times. Footage showed that, in fact, the agents had rammed her car, and after the shooting one had sent a text message bragging: “I fired 5 rounds and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys.” The Department of Justice dropped the charges it had filed against her, asking a judge to “dismiss the indictment and exonerate” Martinez and her passenger.

Today, DHS posted on social media that “ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism. An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers. The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries. This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.”

Trump jumped in with his own fact-free post lying that the shooter had been run over: “I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot at her in self defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe that he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital. The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”

That both DHS and Trump posted false accounts of the shooting even as there are four videos circulating that reveal those accounts to be lies shows they no longer are making any attempt to justify their actions. Instead, they are demanding Americans abandon reality in favor of whatever the administration says. If this works, it would be a demonstration of totalitarian power, the ability to control how people think. Accepting that lie is a loyalty test.

    But it is not working.

First of all, Sarah Jeong of The Verge noted that the reason there are so many videos is because “people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn’t just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn’t abandon her.”

Second, elected Democrats are pushing back. “I’ve seen the video,” Governor Walz wrote. “Don’t believe this propaganda machine. The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.” To reporters, he said: “We’ve been warning for weeks that the Trump administration’s dangerous, sensationalized operations are a threat to our public safety, that someone was going to get hurt. Just yesterday I said exactly that. What we’re seeing is the consequences of governance designed to generate fear, headlines, and conflict. It’s governing by reality TV and today that recklessness cost someone their life. I’ve reached out to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and I’m waiting to hear back.”

He told Minnesotans that, like them, he was angry, but “they want a show. We can’t give it to them. We cannot. If you protest and express your First Amendment rights, please do so peacefully as you always do. We can’t give them what they want…. To Americans, I ask you this. Please stand with Minneapolis.”

Walz prepared to call out the Minnesota National Guard if necessary, demonstrating that there would be no need for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and send in troops. He reminded Minnesotans that the Minnesota National Guard does not wear masks and that it is theirs, not Trump’s.

Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey told reporters that the DHS statement was “bullsh*t. This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.” “To the family, I’m so deeply sorry,” Frey said. “There’s nothing that I can say right now that’s going to make you or your relatives, friends of the victim feel any better.” To ICE and other federal agents deployed in Minnesota, he added: “Get the f*ck out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite. People are being hurt. Families are being ripped apart…and now somebody is dead.”

    HEATHER COX RICHARDSON (Continued)

But something else was also going on today. At the same time the administration was pouring gasoline on the domestic fire ICE had sparked and the international fire it had set with its attacks on Venezuela and threats against Greenland, it was quietly making a number of major financial moves.

The smallest of those moves was that today Trump asked Fulton County, Georgia, for a $6.2 million payout in attorneys’ fees and costs after the criminal charges against him in Georgia were dismissed. Trump had been indicted for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia by pressuring Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensberger to “find” 11,780 votes to give him a victory in the state of Georgia. In November 2025 a new special prosecutor dropped the charges, citing the difficulty of prosecuting a case against a sitting president. Trump boasted on social media of his victory over an “illegal, unconstitutional, and unAmerican hoax,” and continued to push the lie that Democrats stole the election.

Vicky Ge Huang of the Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump family’s cryptocurrency venture World Liberty Financial today applied for a national banking license from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, part of the Treasury Department. A banking license would integrate the Trump family’s cryptocurrency more fully into mainstream finance.

If the Treasury Department issues the license—a potential outcome that critics say reveals a major conflict of interest for the president—the president and chair of the new company would be Zach Witkoff, whose father is the son of Trump’s envoy to Russia Steve Witkoff, who the Wall Street Journal recently reported had been handpicked for his role by Russian president Vladimir Putin. The younger Witkoff started World Liberty Financial in 2024 with Trump’s sons Don Jr., Eric, and Barron.

Today, Energy Secretary Chris Wright told an audience at a Goldman Sachs energy industry event in Miami, Florida, that the United States will take control of all oil from Venezuela for the foreseeable future. Lisa Desjardins and Nick Schifrin of PBS NewsHour reported this afternoon that Trump administration officials have told lawmakers that they plan to put the money raised from their seizure of Venezuelan oil into bank accounts outside the U.S. Treasury. Desjardins clarified that “[s]ources said they understood these as similar [to] or decidedly ‘off-shore’ accounts.”

Yesterday, Trump announced that, as president of the United States, he would control the money from the sale of Venezuelan oil.

And then, this afternoon, Trump’s social media account first threatened the defense contractor Raytheon, saying that “[e]ither Raytheon steps up, and starts investing in more upfront Investment like Plants and Equipment, or they will no longer be doing business with Department of War.”

Then, the same account posted: “After long and difficult negotiations with Senators, Congressmen, Secretaries, and other Political Representatives, I have determined that, for the Good of our Country, especially in these very troubled and dangerous times, our Military Budget for the year 2027 should not be $1 Trillion Dollars, but rather $1.5 Trillion Dollars. This will allow us to build the ‘Dream Military’ that we have long been entitled to and, more importantly, that will keep us SAFE and SECURE, regardless of foe. If it weren’t for the tremendous numbers being produced by Tariffs from other Countries, many of which, in the past, have ‘ripped off’ the United States at levels never seen before, I would stay at the $1 Trillion Dollar number but, because of Tariffs, and the tremendous income they bring, amounts being generated, that would have been unthinkable in the past (especially just one year ago during the Sleepy Joe Biden Administration, the Worst President in the History of our Country!), we are able to easily hit the $1.5 Trillion Dollar number while, at the same time, producing an unparalleled Military Force, and having the ability to, at the same time, pay down Debt, and likewise, pay a substantial Dividend to moderate income Patriots within our Country!”

  • Yes, a group of people that see "election stealing" at every turn, would absolutely consider a Democrat asking the GA SoS to "find" exactly 11,780 in votes, when they were behind by 11,779, to be election tampering. 100% guaranteed, they would be totally convinced that corruption was afoot. And they would finally be correct!
  • 'Trump’s social media account first threatened the defense contractor Raytheon, saying that “[e]ither Raytheon steps up, and starts investing in more upfront Investment like Plants and Equipment, or they will no longer be doing business with Department of War.”'

More meddling in the free-market. Things are spiraling very quickly into a managed economy scenario. Building production capacity, merely on government orders. Nationalization of private industry: housing, oil, defense, food production, farming, utilities...

Following the China model. Next, up entire ghost cities, built to house zero occupants.
  • edited 4:31PM
Let us not focus on the fact that the new taxes (tariff income) have now been promised to be returned to taxpayers, pay down debt, increase the defense budget by $500,000,000,000 (yeah, that's 11 zeroes), and a dozen other specious purposes.

The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight must be absolutely freaking out about economic ramifications coming their way, to be embarking on all these desperate maneuvers.

Meanwhile trump's attack on renewables and massive tariffs have forced one of the biggest corporations in the U.S. (General Motors) to a $7,100,000,000 "charge against profits". Huge layoffs of white collar workers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel, are certain to follow.

These folks can now become the migrant workers we will desperately need. Brilliance.

Never forget to invoke "Biden" at every opportunity. Definitely this is a "tell" that we are all being bullshitted at maximum velocity. Incoming!

  • After a year of "fixing" everything in our economy, we have a job situation that is being described by "most economists as far from stellar but at least stable."

Is that what all the taxation, and micromanagement has accomplished? "Far from stellar", but "at least stable"? Alongside 3% sustained inflation? And big losses in healthcare funding?

Hey folks, we got $500,000,000,000 to buy missiles, the rest of you are on your own. Good luck.

And a stock market that performed 35% worse than the prior two years? Winning, as defined by the top 0.1%, yea!

White House rewrites January 6 history and blames police for deadly attack on 5-year anniversary

CNN is reporting that The White House rolled out a new website Tuesday with a full-blown recast of the historical record of January 6, 2021, hailing the pro-Trump mob who stormed the US Capitol five years ago as “peaceful protesters” who were provoked by law enforcement.

The new site baselessly claims the violence on January 6, 2021, was instigated by law enforcement and then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It recasts the rioters as the victims that day, and depicts President Donald Trump as a hero for granting sweeping pardons for the nearly 1,600 people charged in connection with the deadly attack.

For years, Trump has whitewashed the history of January 6, when thousands of his supporters violently stormed the Capitol in hopes of preventing Congress from certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. But the new site notably goes further than Trump’s past rhetoric, and gives an official White House platform to his long-debunked claims.

One overarching theme on the new site is Trump’s long-running — but completely false — claim that the 2020 election was stolen. His repeated lies about mass voter fraud were the reason why he and his supporters wanted to stop Congress from certifying the results on January 6.

    Cherry-picked ‘timeline’

A cherry-picked “timeline” on the website characterizes Trump’s January 6 speech at the Ellipse as “detailing evidence of election fraud,” and urging the crowd to march to the Capitol to peacefully protest and show “strength and determination.” The timeline omits the portions of Trump’s address where he twice said his supporters should “fight like hell.”

The timeline overlooks details of rioters breaking windows to breach the Capitol and assaulting police. Instead, the timeline claims the rally that day was “orderly and spirited, with flags, signs, and chants supporting President Trump.”

The website baselessly accused the US Capitol Police of “deliberately escalating tensions” that day when throngs of Trump supporters swarmed the complex. It said officers’ “provocative tactics,” like firing tear gas into the crowd, “turned a peaceful demonstration into chaos,” even though there is extensive video footage showing rioters attacking police first.

The website includes a disputed assertion that “zero law enforcement officers lost their lives.”

US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, died from strokes one day after being assaulted while defending the Capitol, and the DC medical examiner said “all that transpired” on January 6 influenced his death. Four other officers who responded to the Capitol died of suicide in the months after the assault. (The White House website also doesn’t mention that 140 other officers were injured that day, some requiring hospitalization, and many later suffered from PTSD.)

    Blaming Pence and Pelosi

The website champions Trump’s controversial claim that then-Vice President Mike Pence “had the opportunity to return disputed electoral slates to state legislatures for review and decertification,” during the joint session of Congress that day, but chose not to “in an act of cowardice and sabotage.”

The White House argues that Trump “corrected a historic wrong” by pardoning thousands of those charged or convicted in the Capitol attack. On his first day in office last year, Trump pardoned nearly all 1,600 charged rioters and commuted the sentences of the leaders of right-wing extremist groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.

The site labels all of the 1,600 pardon recipients as “patriotic Americans.”

This report was initially posted on MFO by @Derf... Thanks.

This White House propaganda is disgusting and it's a slap in the face to our country.
Regardless of these efforts, history will show that Trump instigated the Jan. 6 attacks
on the U.S. Capital. Rather than being a hero, Trump will be recognized as the main villain.

the media is missing that this inevitability is guaranteed for many more incidents, regardless of midterms. and hey MAGA, its not making me any richer.

    consider :
    - ICE is trump's SS, and unlike public media, already committed funding cannot be rescinded until ~2027 at best.
    - oh yeah, ICE funding went up >>10X to $170b/4 years, larger than most nation's military.
    - in order to minimize fake numbers, trump has to capture non-criminal immigrants at max velocity.
    - there is minimal national outrage for those captured while awaiting\attending court hearings, or even the sporadic full citizen.
    - Noem has massively boosted salaries for gun-happy fascist candidates that could not even qualify for the Reno911 police academy
    - most of the pre-street training is gone, down to a few weeks. de-escalation seems eliminated entirely despite remaining in the manual for CYA purposes.
    - precedent is being set for all criminal investigations into ICE as 'internal' for national security, fill-in-excuse here....
    - finally, my guess, is that MAGA is still entertained enough to approve.

Yep, these people are now murdering young mothers in the street for sport, and then trying to demonize the victims.

  • Following are excerpts from a current report in The New York Times:

The shootings in Portland, a city previously targeted by the Trump administration, come as Minneapolis grapples with a federal agent’s fatal shooting of a woman a day earlier.
Federal agents shot two people in Portland, Ore., Thursday afternoon, officials said, prompting city and state leaders to demand an end to an immigration crackdown in the city while also urging residents of a community known for political dissent to remain calm.

Details were scant, but city officials announced that the police responded to a report of gunshots in southeast Portland at 2:18 p.m. Pacific Time. Officers were told a man had been shot and was requesting help; the police found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds, according to a police press release. It was not clear what condition the two victims were in. Mayor Keith Wilson said they were “shot and injured by federal agents.”

Elana Pirtle-Guiney, Portland’s City Council president, said during a council meeting Thursday afternoon that she believed the two people who had been shot were still alive. City leaders urged calm as the investigation begins, particularly in the wake of the fatal shooting of a woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis a day before.

“Please keep protests peaceful,” Senator Jeff Merkley, an Oregon Democrat, said in a statement. “Trump wants to generate riots. Don’t take the bait.” Bob Day, Portland’s police chief, asked residents to let investigators do their jobs. “We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling,” he said. “But I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more.”

Mayor Wilson, who earlier in the day announced that the city stands with people in Minneapolis, said the shooting in his city was another sign federal immigration efforts were out of control. He called on ICE to end its operations in Portland. “We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts,” Mr. Wilson said. “Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized agents, and the ‘full force’ threatened by the administration is deadly.

Comment:   There seems to be nothing effective in our political system to mitigate any of this. If just a few years ago anyone had tried to convince me that this was even possible I would have written them off as some kind of weirdo alarmist.

The Heritage Foundation architects of the destruction of the United States political system worked long and hard on "Project 2025", to be ready in case someone stupid enough to be their running dog were elected. And Trump was.

Thank you so very much to all who voted for this miserable bastard.
