  • This is not over, just a pause long enough for him to realize how the Greenland negotiation will be long and challenging. I envision some lease agreement to expand US base(s) for security purpose.

Next target is Canada, Cuba, and Mexico, because there is where the drug comes from.

Democrats are back to their usual narrative.

We were told tariffs would definitely kill the economy, recession and inflation guaranteed. For days, before Davos, the warnings piled up: Trump was attacking our allies, planning massive tariffs, threatening Greenland, on and on.

Then Trump arrived, and within hours, many key points of the deal were settled. None of the predicted disasters happened.

So now the narrative flips. Suddenly it’s “TACO.”

Trump started by aiming at the sky and landed exactly where he needed to be.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the guy who matters most, was the biggest supporter of the deal.

    TDS all day.

Europe (and Canada!) stood up to the Orange Doink, and he rolled over, saving face with "the concept of a plan" re: Greenland. LOL. Ya, like the Repugnant Medical Insurance "Plan."

Mental deterioration doesn't commonly happen quickly. It comes on slowly. He is devolving in front of the whole world.

When he becomes completely incoherent, will that also be "the art of the deal"?

Right. He fixates like an obsessive. Always looking for some attention. People who seek attention, especially negative attention, do not realize that they are doing it out of a deep well of insecurity.

  • The way that observers and strategists and market participants see the Greenland/NATO/tariff situation:

"Trump’s Greenland threat is “the biggest ‘taco’ that you could get,” Roche said, referring to the phrase “Trump Always Chickens Out,” which has come to define a market strategy anticipating the president reneging on his threats."

"Robin Brooks, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said Trump’s toned-down rhetoric had “nothing to do with Europe” and was more likely driven by concerns about the recent spikes in global bond yields, which jumped on fears of a fresh trade war."

"But Roche said this was becoming a problem — the bigger Trump’s threat, the more allies expect him to “march his troops up the hill and then down the hill.”

“What the European Union has learned is that if you face up to them, you win,” Roche said. “Nobody’s going to believe him anymore.”

The current administration has an incredible knack for insulting and alienating our close allies!
  • Sounds a lot like a certain MFO poster, doesn't it?

I would respond to that comment, but I'm suffering from TDS while simultaneously ensuring my investments are always perfect and adjusted well in advance of major market moves, because like our dear leader, I never lose!

Oh, sorry. I was channelling someone else there for a second....

He is pretty much all played out at this point. You can't bluff 'em all the time.

His mental deterioration adds another wrinkle. Iceland...Greenland. Whichever? But he is still sharp enough to grift his family $ billions at our expense. Kushner will be selling you waterfront property in Gaza soon enough.

If Trump is TACO why have the Europeans been paying much more for NATO?

They are laughing at us in Europe. We are now the punchline. Ukraine stopped sharing intel with us because of concerns that Orange was feeding info back to his pal Putin.

That's what we have been reduced to under this admin.

And I think Maine is under invasion now (in addition to MN). Happy Friday!
  • I thought I read where NY is as well. Convince me that it's not politically motivated.

    Mayor of Lewiston, ME:
"I know, given the national news, this may cause anxiety, fear or uncertainty for some in our community. In moments like this, what matters most is how we show up for one another and that we remember who we are and what we stand for as Mainers: the rule of law, the right to peacefully protest, and compassion for our neighbors," Sheline said in his statement. "I ask everyone to remain calm and peaceful, act lawfully and rely on verified information. I urge you to know your constitutional rights. If you encounter an ICE agent, it is very important to remain calm.

"Lewiston is a city shaped by people from many places and many stories. Our differences are not a fault line. They are the strong foundation of who we are. Every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and treated with dignity," Sheline added. "I encourage neighbors to check in on one another, to lead with care and humanity, and to remember that unity is our strength."

..... Of all places, why Lewiston? Proximity to those pesky Canadians pouring illegally through the northern border to steal our healthcare???? (LOL.). Maybe Lewiston is a smaller, more manageable target? Easier to subdue, overall?

it is Maine's 2nd-largest city. I hope the pinpoint location on the map shows up through this wiki link:

This tactic and the resulting consequences on our lives will not be forgotten. This is only January and the mid-term election cannot come fast enough.

That dude is an embarrassment at Davos. His slurring speech and Greenland was confused with Iceland several times. So much wins! The Daly show has had fun with him : Scotland, Legoland, and Neverland are next targets.

I love references to "TDS", especially when I hear our president obsess over Obama and Biden.

ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) is a particular hoot since Obama's been out of office for nearly a decade at this point. It likely drives Trump's Peace Prize obsession. Ah, but DJT just can't quit Obama (however, not quite the way he just can't quit Vlad).

The parallel case of BDS is also notable given that Biden was clearly of feeble mind at the end of his presidency, and clearly no match for almost any college-educated adult who follows the news regularly and has had a good night's rest.

Given that Harris shamed Donald "eating the dogs" Trump, and given that he generally doesn't respect women, I'm surprised he's able to keep his HDS under wraps. Maybe he's on some intravenous medication for the condition, and that's what the recurring "shakes a lot of hands", "nicked it on a table in the Oval Office" bruises are about.

fn: I do not think Obama deserved a Nobel Peace Prize; but that's another matter.
  • Something tells me someone needs to keep an eye on every pennynickel of outflow from every pot of money managed by every loyalist and organization/company that spends taxpayer tariff/sales taxes along with the rest of the normal revenue.
