feedback on the new discussion board - correct URL here
Hi, guys. Let us know what you've experienced in visiting the new board. Look, feel, function ... whatever struck you as important reactions. And thanks!
That's a puzzlement. Chip is pondering. When I click the link, I get the warning then access. Please try to open it in a different browser and make sure it doesn't add an "s" to the "http."
and linked logged in. I logged out and was able to login again. The same link in Firefox allowed me to login when I pasted the link above into the address box.
However, probably because of my PC security settings, in both browsers I got a privacy/security error using the link:
. That link, if valid, does not appear to be enabled for higher security.
The one in the "changes coming soon", if it links like you want it to, works beautifully so far. If it loops back to the original site, it is mute. I cannot tell if it goes to the new site. It acts and looks like the old site.

OK, not sure if I'm being at all clear on this. As I understand the situation, there are temporarily two different MFO servers... the original- let's call that "MFO-1", and a temporary one using chip's URL address. Let's call that "MFO-2".
From here it seems that if you start at MFO-2, and try to go anywhere else, you wind up back at MFO-1.
Old_Joe For the historical record, I believe that I am the first to re-show my old friend Hobbes, and change that silly "Posting Freak" thingy.
Observant1: I noticed that "Senior Troublemaker" is listed under your user name!
Old_Joe Seemed appropriate. BTW, I found an "Ignore" function, and you-know who is the first, and I hope the only, member.
Observant1: "BTW, I found an "Ignore" function..." This is very welcome news. I don't anticipate having to use this feature often but there is one particular individual...
Old_Joe OK, here's something that I really miss- in MFO-1 the "Discussions" Link in the Header pulls together ALL of the various forums (except Off-Topic) in one handy place. I don't see anything like that in MFO-2.
OK! Just found that one- it's a small "View New Posts" in the upper right of the header bars. Cool!
Also right there is another handy link: "View Today's Posts".
Observant1: It's probably best to provide feedback in one designated thread. I've started using the feedback-on-the-new-discussion-board-correct-url-here thread.
Old_Joe OK- sounds good. I'm going to transfer some of my input from here over to there.

And if, at the new site, you click on "portal," you seem the moral equivalent of the "discussions" tab OJ was hoping for. Chip is working to make that the new site's landing page: mfo.com/discussions would land on the "all threads" page and you could bip off to a view just of fund discussions or other investing or whatever, if you liked. Dinner impends in our household. Sometime on either side of that meal, Chip is looking for a widget to put on the "portal" page that would make it easy to access fund discussions, other investing and so on.
OK, there should be an option to bypass the warning and access the site. I can't provide specific instructions since I don't have Brave installed. I can access the site via Firefox and Chrome after receiving certificate and "secure site not available" warnings.

So, I have to change browser security settings to get into the HTTP temporary link ????? Or perhaps wait for the NEW site. Getting too late in day here.

How do we access the new discussion board?
landing page back to Mutual Fund Observer Discussionsyou then go to
"https://www.mutualfundobserver.com/discuss/discussions"
which would not be chip's url anymore, but the original MFO URL
The same link in Firefox allowed me to login when I pasted the link above into the address box.

You'll know you're cookin' with gas (except in California and New York) if you see something like this screencap.
1) Login successful via Firefox and Chrome.
2) Can create a new thread in Fund Discussions and post a reply to the thread.
3) Can create a new thread in Other Investing and post a reply to the thread.
4) Can create a new thread in Off-Topic and post a reply to the thread.
5) Can add an external link to a new reply.
6) Can edit a reply to correct mistakes.
7) Can bold, italicize, and strike-through text.
8) Search by Username seems to work ok.
9) Search by Keyword seems to work ok but further investigation is needed.
10) Unable to send private messages - 100% of PM space is used.
11) Bulleted and Numbered Lists are not displayed after posting a new reply.
12) The Start New Discussion button and category navigation are sorely missing from the Discussion homepage.
I'll continue my ad-hoc testing but is there anything that you would like to specifically test?

A work surely in progress.
@Observant1: I use the BRAVE browser.

Added some other info too.
